Ch arles Pospisil surprised hi s co mpe ti tio n in the Vet C class as he careened around th e Kato Cycle Club's tortuous track for a big upset. Pospisil grabbed both hol esh ots o n his Kawa saki KX250and he ld o n to win o ver Thor Mathison in both mot es . Jeff Farnell and Brian Fisher posted 3-4 finishes in 'he first mo'o o ver Ro ger Sch ellhammer, wh o had work his way up aft er as di smal st.:ut. Curtis ' Wadd topped hIS first moto sixth place finish with a third in the second round lO give him third overall . while Schellhammer rod e a cautious race to fourth and wrapped up fourth overa ll . . Robbi e Engstom had a bad start, but moved up to second on th e first lap. It looked as if he might gai n o n Keeney. bu t he had trou ble wi'h a rm p u"-,p and found himself under attac k by Mike AtkInson nea r the end o r th e malO. David Tail produced a fourt h pla ce fin ish o ver J ason Kem pe l. I n the secon d mota, ALkinson surged in to the lead while Keeney gOl off to a poor start.
