T he Motorcycl e Indu stry Council (MIC) kicked off its 1991 OHV Land Use Workshop Series o n Sep tember 25-27. The Hel en a National Forest in Montan a hosted th e first work sh op with o ver 75 participants attending. In coo peration wi th th e Speci a lty Vehi cle In stitute of America, MIC co nd ucts four OHV wor ksho ps a nn ua lly for professional land managers from local, sta te and federal agencies. The goal is to giv e participants th e information, tools and o nt h e- tra il ex p er ie nce th ey n eed to successfully man ag e off-hig hway vehicle recr eation. At th e workshops, OHV experts from the U.S. Fore st Service, the BLM a nd state agencies serve as g ues t lecturers and trail ride leaders. The Wayne National Forest in Ohio will host the second workshop, October 8-10; Mississippi's DeSoto National Forest will ho st a five-day workshop beginning October 29; and the BLM California Desert Distr ict will host th e fina l '9 1 worksh op, Nov emb er 13-15 in Ridgecrest. Baldwin will take over for Canadian St e v e Cr e vier, who broke a bone in h is lower leg while riding his motocross bike last week.
