The pre-unit-constru ctio n Premier classes also provided plenty of action. Englishman Adrian Moss, a former grass track World Champion , outclassed the Premier 500cc Expert field aboard Dick Mann's T riBSA. In Prem ier Li gh tweight , Mann handed over th e first moto win to CZ.mounted Saw azhki when he ti pped over his 350 Gold Star in a m uddy corner. But it was the Co loradan 's turn to err in the final moto, when Sawazhki ran wide just three turns from the checkered flag, allowing Mann and John Geer to slip by: Road race Ridin g a n asso rtmen t of we llprepared West Coast Brit ish Raci ng Du cat i sing les, Mike Green earn ed a pair of firs t-place finish es, a second and two thirds on Saturday, in the next -to-th e- last round of the ' 9 1 Historic Cup Series. Team Obsolete 's Dave Roper also was a double winner aboard hi s '62 AJS 7R. Green's wins in 250cc Grand Prix and Sportsman 500cc classes both came fair ly easily on the 2.I-mile course. In the 250cc race he got by eventua l second-place finisher Lee Robison aboard a GMA Racing Bultaco Metralla aft er Robison tan gled wi th th e turn o n e hay bal es. The 350cc GP start saw the smooth-riding New Yorker off to a commanding margin, Green worked his way through the pa ck to a thirdp lace finish, Second went to Bill Anderson on a '69 Harley-Davidson ERS. The Premier 500cc event was one of two races run in cold, rainy conditions that Roper hardly seemed to mi nd as he steadi ly built a large lead. Green, mean wh ile, caught and passed And erso n as the race progressed. Gr een 's second th ird-place fin ish came in an abbreviated 200cc GP event. Sve n Bley, riding a Bley Vintage Mo tor cycle Restora tio ns Bultaco TSS , jumped to an early lead, foll owed by another TSS ridden by Yoshi Kosaka. But as Gr een clos ed in o n the two Bultacos at the start of th e fourth lap, a rid er went down and th e red flag came o ut. Offi cials ca lled it a race. The rain and gusting wind slowed the 750cc GP field except fo r Richard Mooree a board a Wind igo R &D/ Trop ical Gan gsters/Big D Cycle Trium ph tri pl e. As Moore bu ilt a lead of nearl y 30 seconds, a good di ce wa s go ing o n for second betw een Nortonmounted Mar c Field and J oe Schmidt's Triumph TI20, wh o finished second and third, respectively. Ra n d y Bradesku se we d up th e Sportsman 750cc title with a win aboard his '72 BMW R75. Second went to another R75 ridden by Peter Watson.
