Brow sped off th e li ne in th e firs t
of four hea t races , a nd rode to an
un contested win . Foll owing the

Springfield;" work hi s magic. Graham was second off th e line, but
foun d hi s way past ea rly leader Steve
Moreh ead and rode off with the win.
Will Davis followed the two veterans
across th e fini sh li ne 10 secure th e
th ird tra ns fer into th e main.
Durelle sto le the holeshot in the
third hea t aboard his 600, but Greg
Sims powered past and went on to
score the win. Durell e sta yed clos e to
fin ish second, well ahead of Steve
Bea tti e.
Rodney Farris and Larry Pegram
battled th roughou t th e fourth heat
race, exchan gi n g th e lead repeatedly.
Pegram prevailed at the checkered
fla g: while Fa rris was forc ed to settle
for th e r u n ner- u p spot. G eorge

lead riders that co ntin u ally traded th e
lead. G raham , Farris, Mo rehead,
Davis and Pegra m p ulled away fro m
th e rest of the field, and each ri der
too k various turns in the p o in t
position. Graham proved wo rt h y of
his nic kn ame, and once again, positioned himself in the right positi on
at the right time. Graham drafted
home th e winn er , whil e Farris ,
Mor ehead, Pegram and Durell e fo llowed in that ord er.
Frei tas assumed the lead position
early in the Junior final , but Dan ny
Koelsch had other ideas, and sto rmed
past the Junior National Champion.
Once out front, Koelsch would no t
be headed , and scored th e win over
Freitas and Cory Perr ault .
As ma ny as eight ri ders traded th e
lead th roughout th e Pro- Am ma in
even t. Ty Howard topped the other
seven riders , an d scored the win ,
while Kevin Varn es, Greg T eagu e,
R ob bie G rei f a nd Ku rt Bo ehlke
rounded out th e top fou r.

Series kicked off at Marysville's
Riverfront Park with a night
motocross, and the big winners in th e
Pro ranks were two northern Cal ifor ni a favor ites.

McElro y scored the overall win in the
125cc Pro class an d then borrowed a
Honda a nd roosted to th e 500cc Pro
class win. Dave Coupe surprised no
one by taking hi s Ro seville Cycle/
FMF / Sinasa lo/Senco-backed Honda
to th e Vet Pro win th en even surprised
himself by no tch ing th e 250cc Pro
class victory .

Danny Paladin o p ulled th e holeshot in mot o one of th e 125cc Pro class
but McElroy was hot on h is heels an d
a few turns later took con trol of th e
lead. McElroy th en set a bl istering
pace that th e rest of th e field ha d
trouble keeping.
Paladino foll owed in second for the
first few laps, but Jon Nels on got
around and set ou t after McElroy.
T oward the end of the rnoto, Nelson
start ed to drop off the pa ce and on
th e white £lag lap Pal adino repassed
a n d finished second to McElroy.
Nelson held on for third wh ile Tyler
Hummel finished fourth in h is firs tever Pro class race. Tony McGrath
rounded out the first five.
Joey Rodriquez ripped into th e lead
at the start of moto two with McElroy
and Nelson in hot pursuit. Nelson
flew from th ird 10 first on lap two,
wh ile a few turns later McElro y was
into second and roosting
