Class C action saw a see-saw battle between
Beno Rodi on his Royal Enfield 500 and Steve
Coe's 750cc Harley-Davidso n. Beno led laps
one through three, bu t was passed by Coe on
the fourth lap. Beno recovered to take over
the lead spot again, and this time he held it
to the nag.
The black and blue award of the day
certainly had to go to AI Otarles. Charles
highsided h is Ducati in the Pro Twins G P2
event earl ier in the day and was take n by
ambulance to the track's medical center. He
returned, bruised back and all, 10 race in the
Harl~-Davidson Twin SJ"'rt event before
fini shmg second on his Triump h Triple later
in the day in the 750cc G P class.

The 125cc C class was the I"'r~t of the
day and provided wil d and exciti ng racing.
Dave Hu ey go t the holeshot in rnoto on e ahead
of Kevin McGuire. H uey held the lead until
Jeff Ulshafer. who started in the middle of
the pa ck, charged up to snatch first on the
last lap and hold the position to the checkered
nag.
Kevin Hantz led the sta rt of moto two with
Ulshafer on h is tail. O n the third lap, Ulshafer
tried to pass Ha nu in the stadium rockers ,
but both riders ta ngled in the next com er.
They both sta yed uprif;ht and Ulshafer
emerged with a lead which he stretched to
the checkered na g.
