An all-new compac t engine is both lighter and smaller than the previous model and features an all-new, lower-maintenance power valve system with 50%fewer parts than before. The frame is narrower and lighter, while the suspension has been changed at both ends. The front Showa forks feature a triple-taper design and now have both rebound and compression damping adjustments, while the rea r Showa shock has a larger body, plus the suspension linkage ratios have been revised. (Left) The CRI 25 doesn 't have the radical changes like the CR250, but a new nat-top piston and redesigned combustion chamber is claimed to give a one-horsepower increase over the' 91 model. It also gets the new 43mm triple-taper fork and revised rear shock settings. 16 (Above) Like its little brothers, the CR500 gets the new Showa triple-taper fork plus a redesigned si lencer.
