Lewis lights up Perris Night MX By T ony Alessi PERRIS, CA, JUNE I Kyle Lewi s stormed to impressive wins in the 125 and 250cc Pro classes at GFI Racing's openin~round ofa 16·r.1l:~ Wina Truck Niglu MX Series at Perris Racewa y, Nearly 400 riders turned out for th e kickoff even t where riders who compete in at least half of the even ts ar e eligible 10 win the truck. Riders will be awarded points per moto, and at the end of th e seri es the na mes o f the top five riders in each class will be put in a bowl and o ne rider will win th e tru ck, Chris Young, SIeve Lamson a nd Lew is provided th e action in the firsl125cc Pro mot o as they q uickly sepa ra ted them selves from th e pa ck and put on an exhi bi tio n of bar -to-ba r racing. Young led most of th e mot o but wa s passed by Lamson 10 se o nds before th e c checkered flag . Lamson squeaked o ut th e rno to win over Yo ung and Lewi s. Lewis thundered hi s No leen /Fox Yamaha 10 the second rno to holeshoi wit h Lamson and You ng in tow. Lewis opened a three-second cus hion over Lamson, who was pushing hard in second. J ust after the halfway sign a l was given Lamson lost con trol and slammed a main water line. The i mpac t ruptured the line and drenched Lamson from head to toe a nd left him OUl of con tention the dura tion of th e mote.
