Schmit had won four mot os in th e first three G Ps, and with four more rounds in the nex t five wee ks his injury cou ld n' t have come at a worse time since he will be for ced to si t ou t a t least the ne xt two successive ro u nds in Switzer land and Belgium. Moore lies third in the standings, 22 points behind Everts, who is the son of three- time ' I 25cc and 1-985 250cc World Champion - H arry Everts . Following a disastrous day at the previous GP in Holland, American Willie Surratt pulled back some points with hi s 7-12 moto finishes . Surratt, who holds seventh in the stand ings w ith 58 points, was unable to p ractice the week before the Hungarian G P . Everts stormed past L uca Cel io, S Marco Cerini and Jerome h alfway into the first lap of the opening 40-minute plus two -lap moto, Schmit moved into second one lap later and Moore, despite twisting his ankle o n the first lap, was soon third. South African Greg Albertyn , cha rged for th e first 20 minutes and stormed from l Sth at.the start to fourth . Surratt had also ch arged up to six th behind Yves D emaria within 30 minutes. Each of th e title ca ndi da tes maintai ned at least 10 seconds between the mselves, a nd Everts ' lead grew to 18 seco nds over Schmit a t th e finish. Moore crossed th e line 23 seconds beh ind in th ird with Albertyn finishin g fourth, more than 20 seconds beh ind the American. Demaria held on to fifth while Su rratt began to feel th e pain from his dam aged thumb and had to make way for Mar cel Van Drunen in the clo sin g stages. "I kn ew that I had to get to th e front quickly," sai d Everts. " I didn 't worry abou t Don ny after that. I just concentrated on my la p times so that I knew I was maintaining my pace.
