GENDDR0 AM! National Championship Reliability Enduro Serits:Round 3 m T erry Cunningham aced the AA class with a score better than the top WI rider. Previous round winner Strve Hatch was the top rider in the LOI division in Ohio. National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins scored the LOI 125cc class win. Hatch, Cunningham splitMcA w rthur iri By Larry Bell McARTHUR, OH, MAY 26 uzu ki's Steve H atch and Kawasaki's Terry Cun ni ngham scored a spli t decision for the overa ll victory at the o ne-day Enduro Riders Association ISDE Qualifier. Hatch , competing as a Letter of Intent (LO I) rider, tallied the lo west score in the LOI division, while Cunn ing ham , who competed as an AA rider, topped everyone, including the LOI competitors an d Hatch. Cunningham concluded the event wit h 2304 points to Hatch 's 2341. So who was the overall winner? The AMA gave that decision to the hosting club, which decided the overall win as a split, although Hatch was declared as the .LOI overall winner and Cunningham the non-LOI overall winner. Hatch d idn ' t like the deci sio n , feeling as tho ug h he sho u ld have been declared as th e sole overall winner of the even t. "Terry (Cunni ngha m) doesn't want to be Letter of Intent," H atch said "As soon as it started rai n ing this morning (Sunday) he didn' t ha ve to im pound his motorcycle so he switched tires. We (L O I ri ders ) had to impound our bikes so we couldn't switch tires . (P lus), he was a lo t of riders behind us an d we S 12 had to break trail, and in the final motocross test, he was riding against guys wh o were out of his caliber. U he would've been up with us (L OI riders) h is score would've been slower. It 's not fair. If I was n 't Letter of Intent, I'd be back th ere. In my eyes if he wanted to go for the overall, he should pay his 20 bu cks (to ride the LOI class) and bea t us that way. We have to deal with lights, sound tests and stuff like that - he doesn 't. " . " I beat him," Cunningham said. " Fai r is fair. I went faster than him. " Nonetheless, Hatch, riding a Suzuki RMX250, and Cunningham, aboard a Kawasaki KXl25, were the riders to beat , and the one who came closest to doing that was Honda XR600 fourstroke rider Scott Summers (LOI), wh is the defending Cross Country an Hare Scrambles National Champion. Summers finished just four pain behind Hatch with a 2345 point score. Kawasaki Team Green 's Kur Hough performed another consisten ride, claiming fourth overall (thir LOI) with a 2360.
