That left most of the track dry with a small wet section. DAK's Wilson showed a little of his inexpe rience when he slid down o n th e wet tarmac. T he DAK crew frantically went to work on the Suzuki and sent out Scott Seferian, but th e bike ne ver did handle well aft er Wilson's crash . Seferi an fought valiantly to keep the bike in the race, but he finally su ccumbed to the ill-handling machin e at the in fam ous Gratta n Bowl. DAK Racing was out aft er nearly six hours of near perfect endurance racing. Now T eam Suzu ki Endurance could breath easy. Wi th only two h ours left in the race , their nearest competi tor , Hall 'N Still Ra cing, was 14 miles behind them. The Heavyweight Production race, as it has at severa l tracks this year , was shaping up to be a down- to-the-wire affair. Hall 'N Still hel d the lead , but Force Ra cing was right there, never more than a lap off. A team that really began mov ing up the ranks late in the race was Barely Human Racing. ·After th e Human Race Team retired F ri tz Klin g remained human, b u t j ust ba rely . Barely Human picked up Kling for a final dash to th e check ered flag. During hour seven, Kling moved the team from fourth to second,' zipping past the HNSR/Force battle in the process. In the other classes, T eam Rush 'N Racing took a ' lesso n from Barely Human and recruited Dean Hayes from Team Dread ed after they crashed o ut. Doug Ar ter and Scot t Evans, with h elp from Hayes, won the Mediumweight Superbike race on a Yamaha F.ZR600. It was the best fini sh of th e season for the Milan, Ohio-based team. Mo tion Systems won their second Medium weigh t Prod uctio n ra ce, fol lowing u p a win at Road Atlanta. Chris Hughes, Mike Hughes, T o ny Pauseo and Mike Leslie rode the team's immaculate H onda CBR600F-2 to eight place overall. Cincinnati-based F8cS Racing won th e Lightweight race in a close battle with Deal s Gap Ra cing. The win is th e third in four starts for F8cS. Chris Sweeny teamed wi th Reuben Fra nkenfield on the F8cS Yamaha FZR400. Up front, T eam Suzuki wrapped up the race with a six- lap lead over Barely Human. The defen ding champs averaged 73.5 mph during the eight hourrace, and 40 of th e 52 starting teams wer e still running at the fin ish . The win str en gthen s th e Team Suzuki's lead in the series points chase. After five races Team Su zu ki has 780.97 points to Hall 'N Still's 650.93 points.
