The 19-year-old Kizzar, from Graysvill e, T ennessee, cap ture d Saturday n ight 's 12-lap finale ov er Ohio's Chuck Reed and then scor ed a followup 250cc A win on Su nday ahead of Tea m Green/ AXO/Yokohama /BT Racin g's Davey Yezek, The 125cc Expert class winner o n the first night of racing was Illinois' j unior j ackso n , whi le Answer / Barr 'sbacked Steve Childress cap tured the Su nday matinee victory. Over 400 riders attended th e two-day race held in conj unctio n with th e Dealer News trade sho w just across town. Yezek opened the Saturday even ing program with a narrow 125cc heat win over jackson. T he second divisio n was won by Cernic's Suzuk i/Gear Ra cewear rid er Steve Crow e with Reed pl acing second. The third heat began with a dramatic endo by Kizzar as he attem p ted 10 leap hi s w ay into the jump-fill ed first turn but instead cartwheeled his ma chine into the hay ba les. Kizzar would transfer into the final via th e last cha nce consolation race while Kentucky's Mike Morris went on 10 win the final heat . Reed leaped o ut of the starting gate with the main event hol eshot ah ead of jackson, .Kizzar, jason Gray, Chil dress, Crow e and Yezek. For the first four of 12 laps Reed led th e way with j ackson and Kiuar pressin g hard. The trio left the rest of the pa ck during that tim e as Childress passed Gray for fourth and settled in for th e driv e to the fini sh . On lap five j ackso n displaced Reed as the leader. and proceeded to put lapped riders between himself an d his pursuers . Kizzar went by Reed a couple of laps later bu t jackson was already gone to a four second win. A late mistake by Reed allowed Ch ildr ess into the number.three spot at the finis h. In 250cc Exp ert qualifying, Reed and Childress proved fastest , win ni ng th eir respective heat races. Reed got the better of Yezek and Indiana 's jim jones whil e Childress topped a pair of Pennsylvanians Mik e McDonald and Sh ane Slother, Kiuar again had trouble getting through the first corn er and had to make the fina l through the co nsol ation round. Kizzar's corne r troubles ended there as he blasted in to the lead at the start of the 250cc main even t, Reed was seco nd off the line and he pressured KizZar throughou t the 12 laps to no avail. KTM-backed Mark Musselman finished third with Yezek and Ch ildress rounding au t th e top five. Saturday's program also featu red two exhibi tion races. Eight-year-old j eff Gibson ente rtained the crowd by doubling so me of th e whoops on hi s 50cc Yamaha YZinger. Gibson won the Pee Wee race over In diana 's Ro bert Turley and Ohio's Kyle Pol ter, In the celebrity race for industry personnel, GalOTZ's Ken Wilson too th e win over ATK 's defending rac cha mp Mike Doughert y and No Fear ' Roger Ew ing. Sunday's opening l25cc Expert hea saw Musselman and Yezek emerge as th win ners. Kizzar agai n had early troubl and failed to make the mai n, even i the consis. Childress was also forced im the second round of qualifying but mad the main with his eonsi win. Chi ldr ess held that momentum right through the main event , taking the ear ly lead ahead of Musse lman an d Gray and holding it all the way 10 the
