Mike Finch (32) chases the front-runners in the 250cc Novice Division Two class. Lewis won the first moto followed by Chamberlain, Dyck and Bachman. Lewis took it wire to wire in the second. Chamberlain started poorly but worked up to second after a lengthy battle .with Brett DeVries. Chamberlain did close in on Lewis during the ~inal laps but Lewis' lead was Immense. Tom White scored the win in the Old Timer Expert class by beating Jim O'Neal 'and Allan Olson. White rode one of his best races and his back-toback moto wins served notice that he may be on his way LO the top of the class and seeking the series title. O'Neal finished second behind White in each moto with Olson third and Alan Kent fourth. O 'Neal's son Jimmy got the gold in the 8Gcc Beginner Division II class after capitalizing on Joey Cirocco's misfortune. Cirocco led all of the first moto while O 'Neal followed in second ahead of Corey Sievers. . Cirocco looked to be off to a repeat win in the second inoto but was sidelined with a loose spark plug connection that stopped him for one lap. O'Neal took control and cruised to an easy moto and overall win. . Sievers finished second and Jessie Moffett rounded the top three. Cirocco's luck turned around in the second division of the 125cc Beginner class. Lawrence Lewis led from start to finish in the first moto with a good size lead at the checkered flag. Cirocco charged from ninth at the start to second while Aaron Lamb rode a consistent race to third. In the second moto Joe Fernandez grabbed the holeshot and ran away with the race, finishing first with a big lead. Cirocco again charged from a poor start to assume second at the finish, and Lamb repeated his third place finish. Since Iirst-moto winner Lewis finished 11th in the second moto and Fernandez scored a seventh in the first moto, the top two positions overall went to Cirocco. Grant Gasper and E.J . Wright waged war in both 125cc Novice division one motos. In the first moto Wright led up to the final lap without incident, then as the white flag waved Gaspar suddenly carne to life. The two riders engaged in a dogfight, but when the checkered [Jag waved it was Wright with the win . Caspar finished inches behind in second while Tracy Asher finished a lonely third. "My whole body is full of bruises from Gasper, it's like I was wrestling or something," l4-year-old Wright said. Wright again led the way during most of the second moto but once again Gaspar closed ground quickly and began to apply pressure to the youngster. Gaspar found an opening on the inside line during the last lap and stole the moto and overall victory. Wright settled for second and again Asher was a distant third. In the 500cc Beginner class David Glass powered his four-stroke ATK to a pair of moto wins and never challenged in either moto. Gary Doggett. John Cross and Chuck Hartsfield mixed it up in both motos and finished • tied for second with six points. Doggett broke the tiebreaker with the best second moto finish. Burbank Yamaha-backed Nick Athans was unstoppable in both 2529 Novice class motos, Mike Little rode the sand especially well and worked up to second in both motos but never made a successful charge at Athans. Bari Waalk holeshot both motos but fell backwards to four th in the first moto and third in the second moto. Louie Peick was another front-runner .,.. in both rnotos, but he wasuncomfortab le riding in the sand, and finished behind Waalk. .
