Brad Frampton topped the 250cc Expert class via a 2-1 tall y. Bu bb Erickson (5) and Jeff Ba rbacovi (23) finished fi rst and fifth , respectively, in the 125cc Expert class at the CRC Win A Ride Series MX at Perris Racewa y. Cu n ni ngham soo n fou nd hi s way into th ird . Rounding the scoring barrels for th e second la p, Cunnin gham had snatched th e lead from Hough, while Hendon foll owed in third. Hi s lead was shortlived as two laps lat er Litt le was once ag ai n leading the race. The bat tle for th ird was every bit as in tense as Mason, Roth and Hand were o nce agai n dicing for position. The position was swa p ped back and forth befor e Hand co uld fina lly get the upper hand and ease away, L ittle took the checkered na g o n th e next lap followed by Quanstrom, Hand, Mason and Rot h . Behind Mason, Ed Hand was charging hard and passed Bill Palloto in midflighl. Mason was hi s next tar get and ,wo laps later found himself eating Hand's roosl. It took two laps to do it but Hand took a fast in side line and slip ped by for second with 'wo laps rem ainin g. After being passed by Hand, Mason picked up his pace a nd foll owed Hand pa st Lillie wtth the white nag in view , The posi tio ns remained intact on 'he final lap with Roth taking the ch eckered nag firs l. Liedberg used 2-1 moto scores to top Frampton's 1-3 tall y, grabbing the 125cc Ex pert cro wn . Frampton returned to win the seco nd 250cc Expert race over Liedberg and ca p ture the overa ll win via 2· 1 scores. L ied berg set a fast pa ce en route to winning the first 250cc Expert mo to , setti ng th e course reco rd via a o ne minute. 33 second lap time, th ree seco nds fast er tha n' an y o ther nder all day. In 125cc Ex pert actio n, Fra m pto n gra bbed the lead ove r Sha u n Secrest, Curtis Cooksey and Chance Mau gh an . Co rky Mau gh an was o n the move a nd go t by Ch an ce shortly after the stan . Liedb erg was left dead last after ge lling ca ugh t in the gate, bu t was soon up to fift h and breat hing do wn Co rky Mau ghan 's neck. Frampton p ulled o ut a heal th y lead over the four-wa y ba ilie for second. Secrest, Cooksey , Maughan a nd Liedberg go t by Maughan and set o u t after Cooksey. Secrest tried despera tely to hold orr Cooksey, bu t Cooksey fina ll y go t by. Mau ghan was hot a nd repassed Liedberg, Secrest an d Cooksey all in o ne swoop to move in to second. Fra m pton cruised out fro n t, u naware o f the dog fig h t taking place beh ind him, Liedberg got by Sec res t a nd Cooksey a n d set out a ft er Ma ugh an . Liedberg stuffed Mau ghan on a d ownhill corner and gra b bed second. Mau ghan wa s lef t o n th e grou nd while Cooksey and Secres t got by for third a nd fou rt h , respectively. Frampton went o n to win over Liedberg, Cooksey, Secres t a nd Corky Mau gh an . In th e second 125cc Expert mo to , Lied berg ho les hot and then disappeared . Cooksey, Frampton , Lance Wal ker and Corky Maughan followed in hot pursuit, Frampton got by Cooksey and went a her Liedberg. Maughan blew by Walker a nd Cooksey for third, Frampto n stalled his bike, all o wi ng Maugha n by. Secrest moved up to cha llenge Frampton for third, as Liedberg a nd Maugh an ran o ne a nd two. Cooksey la nded wrong off th e tabl etop jump, cras hed a nd broke his leg. Liedberg held o n to wi n over Mau ghan , Fra mpto n, Secrest an d Walker. In 250cc Expert actio n, Liedberg grabbed the hol eshot and set o u t o n a blis teri ng pace. Newgare H on da rider Brad Bolton follo wed in second with Marlo Painter a nd Chance Maugh an in tow. Both Frampton a nd Maugh an go t by Bolt on o n la p four, but L iedberg was lon g go ne in first, turn in g one minute, 33 seco nd lap tim es. Bolton go t back by Mau gh an with the fini sh order read in g: Liedber g, Fra mpton, Bolton , Painter a nd Corky Mau gh an. The second moto saw Liedberg grab the hol esh o t ove r Fram p ton, P ainter , Lance Walker and Vince Lucero . Bolton worked past L ucero for fih h shortly after the sta n and picked orr rid ers o n his way to th e front. Liedber g held the lead u nti l la p two, wh en he waved Fra mpton b y. DEC. 16 T ommy Manin had a b usy da y a' Echeconnee MX, as he won both th e 250cc A and Plus25 classes. as well as fin ish in g ru n ner- up in th e l25cc A class, In th e 250cc d ivision, Rick Li ndell headed the pack of 13 riders into the first tum. In close pursuit were J ohnny Dean, Donnie Ban ks, Ricky Palmer an d Darryl H eisler. By la p three Bank! moved into seco nd place wi th H eisler in third. Bank! and H eisler battled for the next la p until Heisler gai ned an inside li ne o n Banks to make the pass. Ho wever . th e two co ll ided im med iately ther eafter a nd went cras hing to the gr ou nd . Dean regained second place, as Martin mov ed into th ird. By lap rive, Martin made the pa ss on Dean and had h is eyes set o n th e leader , Lindell, but wa s unabl e to get by. At th e chec kered flag it was Lindell lea d in g th e way ah ead o f Mart in . Ross Johnston, Shane Pen e an d Dcan . H eisler blast ed int o the lead a t the start of the second mota and held o n to th e number o ne spot for the next five laps. Martin moved through th e pack and soo n fou nd his way by Heisler o n . th e last lap. Martin held o n for the win a nd overall , wh ile H eisler finis hed seco nd in the mo ta .
