Johnson unstoppable at OIR MX By Peggy Adamic RAVENNA, OH, ocr. 1 4 Steve J ohnson took I -I mot o fini sh es in the combined l25/250ec Expert class at Ohio International Raceway. Bill Koleno shot into the lead begi n mo to one wit h Johnson cam pi ng on his rear wh eel. Mike Boggi a, Greg Wheeler a nd Brad Qu ear chased th em through tum one a nd out of sight. On the firs t la p , Johnso n mot ored into the lead and im medi atel y bega n pulling awa y fro m the dozen riders behi nd. By the beginning of lap t wo, John Shay moved from his eig h th-place start to grab fourth behind Johnson , Koleno a nd Wheeler. Boggia had dropped to sixth. By midm oto, Johnso n held a ni ne-second lead. Shay ca mped on Wheeler's rear wh eel and with two laps rema in in g motored around him and then moved in to cha llenge Koleno for second. Boggia moved back into the to p five as he mot ored past Ou ear, J ohnson took the win as Shay pa ssed Koleno for second thr ee tu rns before the chec kered flag. Boggi a and Qu ear rou nded ou t the top five. j ohnson a nd Allen Beech were side by side thro ugh tu rn one a t the start of moto two with J ohnson pulling ah ead in tum two. Kol en o, Wheeler and Boggia were hot on their tracks. Within the first lap , Koleno and Wheeler p ut the moves on Beech as Boggia fell bac k to sevent h. Sha y once again began movig th roug h the pac k, pas t Beech a nd .moved in on Kolen o a nd Wheeler to make it a three-way race for second. Johnso n held . a 15-second lead on the riders behind as he took the checkered flag, Kol eno , Wheeler and Shay rode the fina l th ree la ps in a heated battl e for second with none of the riders ga in ing nor losing positions as they filed by the checkered flag less than a bike length apart. Beech rounded out the top five. Brock Sellards too k the do ubl e-m o te wins in the 80cc Senior Min i class with a stan-to-finish lead for h is 10th C. R.A. class win in I I tries this season. Dave Sul ecki rode to the first Open B moto . win as he took the early lead from Mike Katin in tum two. Sulecki held o n to take the win with Katin press uring from behi nd throug hout the five-lap rnoro, Sulecki too k the lead off the line to begin moto two with Katin motorin g past to bcJrin lap two.
