The fourth rider across the finish line in the opening moto, Kevin Strickland, took second in the final moto as Gibbs again held on for third. Strickland's improvement in the second moto moved him into second overall, B class rider Ken Kelly and A class rider jonathan Blain raced in the same motos as the 0-200 C class, but easily outdistanced the pack. Blain and Kelly challenged each other as neither could pull away to claim a substa ntia l lead. In the last turn before the white nag, Blain made his move to the ins ide of Kelly and Kelly's front tire tangled with the rear end of Blain's Kawasaki. When Kelly ' went down, Blain finally put some distance between the two . Later, in the second moto, Blain defended his lead until near the mid-point of the race when he landed on his front tire and sent his Kawasaki flipping end-over-end.
