Su mmer Series was held at Ocala Speed way MX and T odd Rion topped the 125cc C class. When the ga te dr opped for the first and onl y l25cc C mot o, - on ly one moto was run du e to lighting a nd ra in - Myron Chasta in led the pa ck through tum one, with J ohn Urbon, Cheyenne Houser and Pat Kreusch behind. Urbon went wid e before the first jump and Rion shot by, while Scott Davis ou t-jumped Kreusch, Back up front Rion passed Chastain in the sweeper tum, and Urbon also pa ssed ' Chastain over th e finish IineJ ump. Still in fourth was Houser, just ahea of Davis a nd Kreusch, Davis started to have bike problems letting Kreusch by. ) Rion started to pull ou t a lead, as Urbon slid out in a tum, letting Chastain by. Urbon quickly remounted and pa ssed Chastain in the sweeper tum, while Houser started to close in on Chastain, but ti me ran out. Ri on won with a good lead , followed by U r bo n, Chastain, Houser and Kreusch. . Mitchell Hol stein was the only double class winner, winning the Open Novice and Plus 25 classes. Robert Laughlin was the runner-up to Dan Smith at the Dezert Foxes HS_ o Chris D'Alusio took his Yamaha TZ250 to wins in the 50-mile Solo GTU and Lightweight GP Expert races at Moroso Motorsports Park, out to win and that he did. Ch oat e manal:ed to bailie up to second place, but D'Alusio's 250 was just that mu ch faster. D'Alusio came back five minutes a fter his GTU victory to take the class win in Lightweight GP with a runaway, leaving the rest of the field to ba ttl e for second. Gr eg Esser took that spo t followed closel y by Cliff Bigoney and Nat e Donohew, who just returned to racing after a month ofL Ed Borowy led the Novice cla ss to th e stripe on hi s Honda NS400 in Rothmans trim, with Aaron Anderson and Jeff Whitmire in second and third place, respectively. Newton Heston took the top spo t in the Middlewei!;ht GP event with Bigoney and Mike Lu ke m hot pursuit. Lee Pounders added to his series points lead by takin g the top Novice spo t. Veteran John lon g rode hIS Ducat i to fir st in the Combined T wins event. .Yamamoto, fresh oH his heat and Trophy Dash wins , storm ed the main event a nd rode in typical form, wide open , en route to the win. Behind Yamamoto rod e Kopp, Henson, sem i winner Steve Liberty ana Russell. Nobody, however , cou ld mat ch Yamamoto's pace, as Kopp and Henson maintained second and third to the fini sh . Yamaha also dominated the first of three Open Twin heat races, then went out to soundly trounce the Trophy Dash , beating Gary Hite, and Kopp, winners of heats two and three. In the main, Yamamoto used a front-of-thepack start to take the race by storm. Hensen foll owed Yamam oto, but in the end it was a Yamamoto benefit.
