Dave Stering, Dan William s and Ken McConnell all battled for the lead. William s lOok the point from Sterin g on lap five, bu t McConnell wedged his way to th e front on th e last lap. Williams held on to seco nd over St ering and a fa st cl osin g Mark Davidson. Bill Snyder cont in ued hi s winning ways in the Super Seni or 40+ class. Rob ert Watson moved aro u nd Les Eslinger on lap seven for second. Bob Watts held second until he slid do wn in turn one. J oe Bromley led the first half of the Open class on ly 10 have J ake Zemk e fly by on lap five. J ohn Lowe came T he rains that threatened all week held off one more day as the su n po pped ou t as pra ctice started and stayed ou t all da y. The track was in goo d shape consideri ng the weather, but most of the races were follow-theleader affai rs. The 65cc DTX 7·1 I class was th e exception, Jenny Hayden led all th e wa y to -the fini sh line where J ess Robinson edged by for th e win. The l25cc Schoolboy class look ed to be Brian Zurri's until he fell OUI on lap five, turning the win over to R.]. Overholt. Coolbeth moved up to second bUI still fell on e point short of winning th e overall behind Tommy Hayden . Saturday was sup posed 10 be th e last day bu t after a ni ght of ra in the track was in hopelessly bad condition. T he decision was made to return on Sunday, whi ch dawned under th e threat of rain . The track was worked into a narrow ribbon of raceab le sur face and pra ctice sta rted. T he n a ligh t sho wer hit, and after the ra in stopped the tra ck was ironed an d it was in better shape than before the rain. It was decided to go stra ight to the heats which were ru n th rough the 500cc Vintage class when the ra ins came again. It rai ned for over an ho ur and a half the n su dden ly stopped. The dam age was do ne. however, as the creek that runs throu gh the infield fl ash -fl ood ed. ' Ever yone hurri edl y loaded and lefl the infield for the hi gh ground by th e club house. The turn one parking lot was comp letel y under water as it flowed over turns one and IwOand dumped back into the creek. Fin al results were based on heal races £N for those classes thai ran heats.
