The racing was as close as ever as th e ISDE hopefuls tackled th e tricky grass track sectio n, ru n ni ng co u nterclockwise in the morning a nd clockwise over the sa me co u r se in th e afternoo n. Aaron H ou gh racked up the fastes t 125cc laps bu t ca me to grief a q uarte r-mile further down th e trail. , " I was p layi ng arou nd a nd I d id a n endo, ' said Aaron H o ugh. " I brok e th e cap off the gas ta n k a nd I had to ride like tha t for abo u t two hours to th e next pit. Gas was going everyw here." Kurt H ou gh had gas problems o f a d ifferent sort. "The bike fell o ver a nd dripped a lot of gas o u t a nd I ended up runnin g o u t a bo u t five m iles before th e first gas," said H ou gh. "T wo other ri ders stop ped and gave me gas . I go t rea lly luc ky a nd I didn 't lose any time. " Kurt H ou gh wa s still stru gg ling to make up lost time fro m day one a nd was th ird overa ll a t th e end o f Sa tu rday's special tests , 33 points beh ind Roese1er a nd 29 seco nds back from H awkins for th e overa ll. Posledni a nd Bertram were tied for fourth overall a n d Aaron H ou gh was th e next ra cer on th e board, eight seco nds ahead of Ligh tw eight Four-Stroke leader Holcomb and 39 seco nds faster th an I25cc rival Lewi s. ) Heavy rain laid th e dust o n th e final sectio n of da y three' s 124-mile co urse and riders made th e most of th e perfect . co nd itions. I'v e got two National End u res coming up, so I didn 't want to risk a ny th ing here. I just tri ed to have fun. " The sto p wa tch es went o n again as the ga te dropped for Roeseler in mo to five. T he Kaw asaki pil ot was o u t in front by th e fir st corne r a nd was a head o f th e 500cc In tent field by 10 seco nds a t th e end o f the first lap. Roeseler kept the pace go ing all the way to th e fin ish a nd when th e times were ta ll ied , th e T ea m Green rider too k the o verall win by 61 points, and was 66 po int s a hea d o f Bertram for the 500cc Intent hon or s: Only th ree points sepa ra ted th e top th ree finishers in the 250cc Intent class. Kurt H ou gh finished second overa ll Dave Bertram turned the fastest time in day three's grass track special test, winding up fifth overall and second behind Roeseler in the 500cc Intent dass. Aaron Hough finished sixth overall and first in the 125cc Intent class, despite crashing in a special test. Here, he lubes the chain on his Kawasaki KX80-powered KXl25. with a four-da y to ta l of 2592 points; Posledni was seco nd wi th 2593 and H awkins sco red 2594. David Rhodes, Rob Mesech er a nd Jimmy Lungar ro u nded out th e to p six a nd ten of th e 28 ri ders in th e cla ss fini sh ed on gold. Aaron H ough took th e 125cc Intent wi n with a four-day total o f 2657 points (six th overa ll), a nd Lewi s, Will iam Perkin s and Ford Tannock took gold with 2739, 2898 a nd 2912 points, respect ivel y. H alcomb fini sh ed seven th overall with 2681, topping Drew Smith a nd Brian Mull for th e Lightweight FourStro ke win , a nd Surdyke held o u t Krause a nd J ohn Ma y in th e H eavyweight Four-Stoke di vision.
