David Ha nd powered his Honda th ro ugh turn one to start th e 25Oc c/Open A class with Mike Boggia, Steve Johnson, Mauer and Dale Taylor in tow , Maurer quickly began picking _off th e co m pe ti tio n a nd had ta ken over th e :lead lO begin lap tWD. J DhnsDn moved into third , as Boggia bai led off h is Kawasak i when his th rottle stuck wide open. Chad Coon "mDved into fift h behind T ay lor. Maurer held a commanding 20 second lead by mote's end wit h th e riders behind holding their positions. Maurer wasted no lim e in moro tw o. grabbing the lead off the line wit h Hand, Boggia , Ken Frankenberrv. Taylor and Chuck Emery on his rear wh eel. Mau rer and Hand qui ckly pull ed a wa y, as Johnson began working his way through the riders from his last p lace start. Frankenbery dropped out, as Johnson pa ssed Em ery and 'went to wo rk o n T aylor. The two front-runners held a 21seco nd lead on the riders beh ind, as J ohnson passed Boggia lo tak e o ver third. Boggi a held fourth wi th Emery pa ssing T aylor for fifth. In Lightweight A action, Yama ha rider Phil Ga uther took the overall victory via 1-2 mot o fin ish es. Trevor Vines started th e action , grabbing th e ear ly lead in mota one. Barney Barnett lost second wh en he flew from his Honda on la p three, pickin ~ himself up in last p lace . Gauther passed Vines Ior the lead m idw ay through the mo to. Chuck Nicholson rou ted his Suzuki to th e wire-to-wire win in mot o tWD, bui ldi ng a 13-second lead ahead of G auther a nd Barnett , a baule which ended in a near photo finis h. Vines too k fourth. Jack Steele went home with top honors in the l25cc B class . T he Honda rider too k 2I mot o linishes ahead of Chris Bodo's 1-2 tallies. Yamaha-mounted Allen Beech was chased through turn one by Bodo, Steele and jason Myers. Beech held hi s lead th ro ugh tWDand-a-half laps when BDdD moved in to the led and Mike Howell routed past Myers Ior Iourth . Steele passed Beech a ha ll lap la ter to hold seco nd past the checkered flag, four seconds behind Bodo . Steele too k th e start to finis h victory i n moto two. Bodo and Beech chased Steele around turn one wit h Howell on Beech 's rear wheel. Howell mov ed around Beech midmoto. Steele held a seven second lead Dn BodD and the pack Df riders beh ind .
