Yamaha-mou rned Anthony Dyson sta rted th e day off right by ta king the holesho t in th e first run ning of the 250cc Novice class . Bill y Taylor , Mark j owyski, Chris Co burg a nd Wade Riven back were in hot pu rsuit. Dyson and Taylor continued to lead th e pack. Ri cky Fra nkl in moved up to third. the n stalled and lost a position to Carlton Pad gett , but he was ab le to rega in hi s posi tio n. As in the fir st mota , Walters too k co mma nd immedia tely. In th is mot a, Walters was able to hold off all contenders and it was Nicolosi wh o had to settle for second.
