Distri ct 7 rider Norval Wright was a close seco nd wit h fo ur. O ne of th e most hotly-cont ested divisions has traditionally bee n the Advanced riders, a nd this yea r was no excep tio n. Darrol Peck o verc a me so me gia n t challenges i n the sectio ns and to p ped his class with 38 point s. A very determined and o n-fo rm Rich a rd Berard finis hed seco nd with 47. To no one's surprise, Ryan Young set th e .pace right away in the star -stud ded Expert class by cleaning the en tire first loop. Yo ung fin ished the day with a total of five, topping ITA cham p J ack Stit e's score of 12. . The modern even t wrapped up by 3 p .m . and the vintage bi kes were ro lled o ut . A nu mber of rid ers did -do uble d uty, riding both class es. A separate loop was set u p ad ja cent to th e parking lo t, p rov iding excelle nt spectator access. In addi tio n to the usua l H on da s and Ya rna has, th er e was th e exotic Greeves ridden by th e G inder boys, a nd a very sweet-soundi ng Ducati , Wh en the laughter settled , it was Bob Capistra im win nmg the Support class with II points and Bob G inder (th e fa lher. no t th e grandfather ) co mi ng in seco nd with 14. The Vintage Ch ampionshi p clas s tu rn ed im o a real slugfest between Na tiona l co mpe tito rs Mark Sturtevant and Rob "T oo Tall " T oole. Mark edged Rob o ne point to five for the wi n o n a Honda T Ll 25, while Rob puni shed his o ld Suzuki RL250. Den se fog ear ly Sunday gave way to another brilliant day for tria ls. Riders set o ut o n a new loo p and 10 ne w sectio ns. So me of the riders wer e geuin lj; dialed in to the tri cky Flor ida terrain, whtle o lhe rs showed signs of fatigu e aft er ridin g up to th ree events in two da ys. No change in th e Senio r class wi nner o n Sunday, as Pat e Keen once again lOPped lhe class, thi s time ove r Stan Boli nger. After some mechan ica l gremlins on Sa turday, J eff P igg bounced back to devastate th e Advan ced class. JeU's 24 points were.less than half of second-p lace finis her Richard Berard on 52. The Ex p ert sec tio ns wer e challeng ing enough to claim a " rive" {or even the Nat ional Champion.
