pion Holley. Holley maintained the lead until the third lap wh en Craig managed to reel in the Yam aha ride r and make his move . Craig made the p ass short and sweet and displaced H olley for good. Wh ile Holley and Craig were going at it, Hughes and Ray Cru mb turned up the wic k and moved into th ird and fourth in fro nt of Terry Fowler; The positions stayed the same . until the finish. At the start of the IO -lap fin al, James Chamberlain jumped off the first row to lead Koba Yoshi , Scott Myers , Brooks and Fowler. Fowler was q uickly passed by H u gh es as Brooks ma de his way into the ' lead after steal ing it away from Chamberlain. Brooks' lead , however, was shortlived as ' H ugh es soon dropped the Honda rider to second. The pair were soon joined by McGrath and Craig, who seemed determined to win. McGrath slowly worked his way aro und Broo ks and Hughes and took control at the halfway point. Hughes, however, didn 't let up and kept the pressure on .his fellow T eam Green rider. The pair set the pace for two laps unti l Brooks aga in became a pl ayer. The top three bunched up tigh t, with McGrath ho ldi ng the lead the ma jority of the time. As the end of the race drew near , Dymo nd mov ed-into the top five and ap peared to be looking for a way into the top three. During this time Brooks and Craig ba ng ed bars which all owed Dymond to move in on their rear fenders. As the Team Green/ AXO Sport! The riders connected in the final turn, causing Brooks to lose hi s balance and be passed by Dymond, who LOok fourth behind Craig. Broo ks dropped to fifth in front of H oll ey, Carlisle and Fowler. "It was a fun race," McGrath said. "Everythi ng worked ou t how I hoped it woul d. Everything but the start. I was behind Ryan (Carlis le) and we had a pl an to jump the doubl e at the sta rt, bu t I guess someone was in his way .
