Many off-road racers and trail riders (at least the smart ones) a lways carry water with them while they 're riding, espec ia lly on wa rm days . But in race situa tio ns you don't always have the time to stop and unfasten a canteen from yo u r fann ypack to take a drink o f wat er. To help so lve this sometimes a n noyi ng problem, Uncl e Moon Designs has developed a bolt-on helmet visor th at holds 10 ou nces o f liquid th at yo u can consu me on th e fly. The stylish-looking visor is mad e out of du rable, hi gh-den sity pol yethelene, and i s a erod yn ami call ydesigned to eliminate ann o yin g helm et lift at high speeds. T o use th e H 20 viso r, water is poured into the visor th rough a large hole on the top and then closed off with a rubber plug. Once the plug is in place, a vacuum is crea ted which keeps th e water from pouring out of the sip ho n d rinking tube. The tube runs down along the side of th e helmet and onto th e front face piece, a nd is held in place by three supplied plastic clips - a perfect fit. We installed the Uncle Moon H20 visor on a Bell MOIO 5 a nd used th e visor in many off-road co m petitio ns in the hot desert su n of southern California a n d Ba j a California , Mexico. Wh en you fir st put on th e helm et a nd walk aro u nd the p it s with th e visor full of water, you ca n hear a nd feel th e liquid slos h ing aro und, bu t o nce you start riding , yo u ca n n ot tell the d iffer en ce between the H 20 visor and a conventional one. On th e tra il a nd whe n you' re thirs ty, you can reach u p wi th your left hand a nd gui de the en d pi ece of the drinking tube into your mouth and take a refresh in g sip o f water wit ho u t havin g to sto p. We fou nd, though, that 10 ou nces of wa ter on a hot da y doesn ' t go a lo ng way, so you ha ve 10 ration your sips th rough ou t the ri de. Bu t even sma ll si ps of wa ter really taste good! We usu ally also carried a can teen fu ll o f wa ter for big gul ps a t resets in end uros, or in bet ween loops in hare a nd ho u nd races and enduros. Even if you don 't want 10 ca rry water in th e Uncle Moon visor it 's still a good investment because it looks clean a nd is ex tremely durable; it sho uld las t as long as your helmet.
