J ohnson won both fin al s, but it took him 12 laps to pass Brit Warren Edwards on the fin al evening. Strijbo s won all of his qualifiers every eveni ng, but hit trouble in th e fin al s. A co ll ision with Am eri can Bro c Gl over on Thursday restricted him to eigh th, while he nar rowl y failed to ca tch a tiring Edw a rds on Friday after co mi ng th rough the p ack. Bru ce Sco tt and Tom Shi vers were side by side for almost a lap befo re Shi vers go t the ad van tage. Fisher held a 10-yard lead o n H yson as Scott pushed Sh ivers everywhere. Fina lly with two laps to go Sco tt took hi s A.R . Smit h H o nda under Sh ivers in turns·on e a nd two. At th e checkered nag it was Fish er , H yson , ScOll and Shivers.
