New York's George La zor and Co lorado's Pat Lilt a nd Mark Borgman were th e on ly ot he r riders wh o starte d both mains. Du e LO a mid-week concert a t th e Co liseum , a lack o f time to freeze th e racing su rface arose and th in ice was the order o f the day, bUI Gary Densford a nd his crew did a great job o f keeping the su rface raceabl e for both days o f ac tio n, Sa turday 's crowd o f 4000 spec tators witnessed ice racing [or the first time ever in the northwest as action gOI u nderway with Curry, Cha rlie Venegas, Lazor and Steve Martynse all ta ki ng wins in their heats to take care of the first round.
