Randy . Daw son tirried the start of the first mow perfectly and exited th e first turn on his Cycle Service Pl us Kawasaki in th e lead. . Lap two saw Dawson build a com ma nd ing lead o ver seco nd-place Marek. At the beginning of the th ird lap, Gu lotta cut ins ide of Marek to claim seco nd, but his po siti on was short -lived as th e eng ine on his Yam aha seized halfwa y throu gh th e lap. Ligon was a lso a vict im of rnech a ni cals o n lap th ree. T he fini shing o rder seemed to be set as Daws on led a dis tant Ca ldw ell , who had go tten by Marek through the wh oops.
