Naylor nails Flat River Grand Prix By Arlene Hejlek FLAT RIVER, MO , SEPT. 24 ATK's Ron Naylor picked up the Governor's Cup and th e overall trophy with his win of the 9th Annual Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Flat R iver Grand Prix. For the entire 100 miles, Nayl or ran a tight ra ce with last year's winner, Team Gr een 's Scott Plessinger. A cool su n ny day made it enjoyable to ride, but dust, lapped . riders and square-ed~ed rocks posed problems. At o ne pomt, Naylor lost the buckles off one boot and bent his brake lever when a rider looped out in front o£ him on a tight, rocky uphill. Later, P lessinger lost the lead when he went down hard on his knee and elbow aft er losing control in a roc ky section. Naylor was in front coming through the scoring lanes each lap un til the start of the fina l one, when Plessin ger showed up with a 17-second lead. Sin ce the Flat River Grand Prix has seen a different winner every year, everyone watched to see if Plessinger would be th e first to mak e it two wins. But it was Naylor out front as Dick Mann flourished th e checkered flag. 818-999-3060 OPEN 6 DAYS GSXR-750 SALEI " We Wi ll Not Be Under Soldl" ~ SUZUKI Bert's Motorcycles 900 W.
