Randy Moody led moto o ne of the 125cc Pro race fro m (f<' te to flag, despit e a bik e tha t so unded like lt was in the final stages of meltdown . Rich Truchinski and Mik e Dun lap cam e in th e nex t two spots. Eric Wicker took the holesh o t away in mo to two but gave the lead to Moody before the lap was hall over. Moody led until he fen over 50 feet from th e checkered Oag a nd T ro y Welt y slipped past for th e win before Moody co uld ge t his sti ll-run ning bike up. B Superstock a nd Formula USA_Hall won $1200 in WERA a nd Yamaha co ntingency money for his efforts, Hall's biggest victory came in th e regi o nal Formula USA con test. which co un ts towards th e National Seri es Champion sh ip . Califo rni a rider Chuck Graves, wh o had won both National F· USA events to date, was o n hand. H is reason was two-fold - he needed th e po in ts for th e o vera ll seri es sta nd ings. plus he wanted to ge t race time in a t Roa d Atlanta. Dun Canet had also traveled from Ca lil ornia to co mpe te in thi s race, as th e fina l round of the F· USA series will be held her e in November. G ra ves was dr opping well beh ind th e leaders a nd was having a tough tim e wit h Southeast riders Mike Reed , Fabian Cortez o n an FZR600, a nd Jeff Duckworth. Hall began to pull awa y, using the abu nd · a nt pow er of hi s Dave Zu pan·tuned Yamaha. By the ha lf way point in the race, Hall was four seco nds a hea d of Bra y, wit h Smi th a nother five seco nds behi nd in third. H all went on to pos t a seven- second margin of victory ove r Bray. Graves finally out-moto red the local s and moved up to a soli d fourt h . Graves la ter said th a t he was havi ng problems gelling used to th e high -speed do wnhill section of the back stra ig hL Fabian Cortez finished exceptionally well . ta king fifth o n h is lillie 600 among the large pack 01 I IOOs and lO00s. Cortez showed again wh y he is one of th etop up-and-comers in th e Formu la Two race, Pat O 'Leary led most 01 th e race on his Yamaha TZ250. Cortez was pushi ng his FZR400 to its limits and carv ed away at O 'Leary's lead. With two laps to go Cortez was able to get around O'Leary goi ng int o tum five.
