Team Suzuki was fixed a nd back on the tra ck in sixth with 124 la p s. The rest of the race HRT rode economically trying to conse rve th eir lead. T eam Suzu ki was qui ckl y back into secon d, and were making u p time but not a t a ra te th at wo uld get them anyw he re nea r the leaders. Wright-Line, Royal e a nd T eam Ameri ca kept swapping th ird place back and fourth during the second half of the race. A lot would depend on wh ose machine wou ld hold up the best near th e end of th e grueling eight-ho ur contest. From there, We're H u m an Too outraced Tools ' R ' Us and Royal e II to remain u n defeat ed in th e Mediumweight Production class. The H umans ma de a three-minute stop in the seven th hour to change bo th tires. Team Suzuki got to withi n two laps at that po int , bu t wi th on ly a n ho ur left, the Humans felt safe. Fen wick and Morrissey were going to close out the race in the fina l hour. Fen wick 's ride was uneven tful until just before he was sched uled to come in wh en th e HRT Yam ah a started to so und sick. T he Team Suzuki crew wat ched intently as Fenwick nursed the bik e in. Zupan put Morrissey back on the bik e hopin g he cou ld baby th e bike for the fin al 20 minut es. The Hum an cre w watched hopefull y, hoping to see th e numbero ne Yam aha co me around. It didn 't; the race was lost. It was a gia nt reprieve for T eam Suzuki: even Sm ith was back in a good mood . Suzuki wen t on to wi n their th ird race in a row. T eam Am eri ca 's Yam aha was gra dua lly losin g it brak es in th e final hour. Royal e's Doug Henry went by Woody Deathridge with only five minutes left. Deathridge was pow, erless to do any th ing; hi s fro n t brakes were co m p le te ly gone. It was a dramati c end to a n eig h t-hour du el between th e two team s. Wright-Line Ra cing crossed th e line: in fourth. TEA Racing held off T eam Gat ewa y by 40 seconds to round o ut the top five.
