Glover had followed in Hannah's wake most of the race and ended up 14th. Smith was never a factor in the moto as he gota bad start and had to fight stomach cramps and he finished out of the top 15 pointspaying positions. Hannah took one last lap; then parked his competition machine for good. Although he didn't retire with a win, Hannah was only slightly disappointed. '.'1 said if 1 got 15th and walked off, drinking a beer, I'd be happy," said Hannah. A friend quickly added that there were plenty more beers, and Hannah added, "I may not walk off after all. . "I had to do it (retire) sooner or later," Hannah continued, " I'm glad there's a new king. It's been fun." "I wasn't ·100% this week, " said new king Johnson. "Myhand started to hurt and was sore at the end. It's over and now 1 want to be ready for the-500cc Nationals." 125cc Support Jeff Stanton got pushed wide at the start of the first moto and was forced to play catch-up while Damon Bradshaw and Larry Ward struggled for first. Stanton worked his way to Ward's tail , passed him and event ually took the lead when Bradshaw looped out at the top of a h ilL From then on Stanton motored away while Mike Kiedrowski charged up from a poor start and stuffed Bradshaw at the bottom of Screw-U for second late in the race. Ward had problems arid fell off the pace to finish fourth behind Bradshaw and ahead of Chris Coleman. Stanton started fourth in the second moto and picked his way to the front once again. Bradshaw held the lead for a while but said he stalled in a comer and crashed when Stanton hit him from behind. Stanton, on the other hand, claimed he was brake checked, hit Bradshaw's rear wheel and took him out. . Whatever happened, Stanton was gone with first once again as Kiedrowski moved into second and stayed there despite falling. Bradshaw recovered from his crash to take another third, while Ty Davis, who crashed in th e first turn in moto one, claimed fourth over Denn y Stephenson. • IKaw) 7-15 ; 9.
