Riders Dave Smith and Eric Moe (usual rider Ben Beesley was hurt at Loudon) would eventuall y fin ish six laps down on the leaders to take ninth in th e GTO class and 17th overall. GTU teams that didn't do as well ~ as usu al included Lofgren Racing, who'd run in th e top 10 in th e GTU ranks, but pulled behind th e pit wall on lap 39 wh en th eir Yamaha began emitting stra nge noises from th e transm ission area.
