The Ligh tweigh t (u p to 161 lbs.) Beginner Stock class wen t first with Ro berts tak in g th e ear ly lead a nd stea d ily moving away. Racing was clo se behind him with Yu ichi Fu rukaw a and Mark Long ra cing [or second. The p laces swapped severa l tim es as the pair PUIlI'l.! awa y from the field. Rob ert s co n tin ued to ex tend his lead as he rode to a n easy win with Furukaw a. hang in g o n for seco nd and Lon g a close thud. The Heavyweight (over 162Ibs.) Beginner Stoc k clas s was o ne o f th e closest races of the day with J ason Tegan jump in g 10 an ea rly lead with Scou Hof fman a nd Amhon y Alverez clo se behind. Dennis West moved up to pass Alverez and started to move o n H o ffm an. In fro m of th e three-way figh t [o r seco nd Tegan co ntin ued to length en his lead. Alverez carn e back to pa ss West [or th ird a nd he began to move on Hoffman for . seco nd . Alverez went down in a tigh t co rne r ta ki ng th e pr essu re off HoHman [o r the m oment. J UNE 18 Yui ch i Furuka wa ran a way with the Beginner Stock class at the RMD/ NM A Min i Road Ra ce at Amago Raceway. He th en proceeded to tak e th e same stoc k bike o u t in the Begi n ner Modified cla ss 10 ta ke second o vera ll. In the Iiirst race of the Begi n ner Stock class Mark Long pulled th e hol esh o t fo llowed by Furukawa . It took Furukaw a less th an two laps to pass Long and begin to move aw ay. As Furukawa ex tended his lead Kent Ri ch es began to move up o n Lon g 10 cha lle nge [or seco nd. Kevin Sen ior also moved up to join th e battle. Rich es slip ped und er Long but Sen io r. was rea lly mov ing and passed Long th en RIch es 10 tak e second. Furukaw a fini shed first wit h Sen ior second and Rich es thi rd. The second heal saw Furuka wa ge t 0 [[ th e lin e first a nd pull away quickly to esta blish a lon g lead. Long was second with Senior a nd R iches br eathin g do wn his neck. Seni or passed to ta ke over seco nd and left Lo ng and Rich es to race for th ird, This race Lo ng held o n to Hnish th ird wi th Seni o r second and Furu kawa firs t agai n. Carlo Oddo d om in at ed the Beginner Mod ified class with hol esho ts in bo th hea ts. Race one saw Od do pull a way quickl y with Mark Long getting off the line seco nd The surprise was Furukawa in third o n a stock bik e. Long and Furukawa bat tled [or most of the race wi th Furu kaw a go ing outside o n the last lap to ta ke seco nd. In the seco nd heat Od do aga in too k the lead right from th e flag. This time Furukaw a was seco nd with Lo ng a clo se third. Lo ng tried in vain to pass several ti mes bu t Furuka wa was u p to the ch allenge a nd slow ly pu lled away. AI the fin ish Oddo had a n easy win foll owed by F uru kawa and Long. The 80cc class a lso saw car bon copy races with Dave Tra!l"r winn in g easi ly. J ohn Par k rode hard to finish seco nd and Kevin Cunnin gh am finished third to ro und o u t th e cla ss.
