Dodging the dan gerous, It was th e way to ride there, and to survive. I was awa y down in Mex ico to see m y Brother again . It was h is Birthday. We celebrated and th en rode around in gallo ping taxis through the neon Baja nigh u, and later cut frosted cake with his famil -y. It w as momentous and special In every sense. H e was 60. Sixty years of m y Brother's life held high in a joyous ·toast . What was itT - Four Decades Distant w e learn ed the narrow swift pavements of California ' on our favor ite Brit Bikes! So many motorcycle m iles then; so many years ago now. And when we recalled those other times, and spoke of those other motors, th e M iles and Miles cam e back to us once more in T ens, and Hundreds, Thousands. A marvelous Dream today, remembering it all. Broth er and Brother. It was th e way we grew u p. And th is Summer we wi ll go agai n. We'll find and ride th e narrow pavem ent s that remind us so much of our you th toge ther. And we 'll add in all the Life Force and Knowledge accumulated along the way. H ah! What value it was! W hat prius! " If I was 25 and k new w hat I know now," m y Brother sa id, t h at s mile of h is racin g . " T here's still time: ' is m y reply. T im e that doesn 't ru n awa y, bu t always is th ere to use. Yes, for that pavement stretching into h ills and carv ing its way along th e coast. Offering more, waiting fo r Us. Us then, and Us now. And w hen I rode North again, in the early morning w hile sea clouds .were yet etched around in dawn 's delicate blue, I went with a sp irit of eternal strength and power. It was that essence of Mexico 's own Serpent of Fire sublime, unending, perfect! T he sun stru ck Point Loma's cliffs , and I was in th e U.S. again , Mex ico a gray and distant shore grown small. The road w ind made m y promise real - l shall be back. T o ride w ith m y Brother through Time again . Because there are no restrictions for us. A II is possible. A II is waiting to be don e.
