nitely race ready, but there 'is some room for improvements. In the RM X's case, we wanted more bottom end and quicker and harder-hitting throttle response throughout the . power range. The changes P roCircuit made to our R MX are the ' same mods that have been performed to the RMXs of the entire factory Suzuki enduro team, consisting of defending National Enduro Champion Randy HawkinscDave Bertram and Charles Halcomb. , Pro-Circuit cleaned up the transfer ports, changed the profile of the exhaust ports, better-matched the exhaust power-valves to the cylinder -a nd replaced the exhaust pipe. For ~ a silencer, we installed a stock R M . I aluminum muffler wi th a Cobra Sparky bolt-on spark arrester. We've also used the- more inexpensive .,Cobra H ush Puppy silencer/spark . arrester on the R MX with excellent , resu lts. (The Hush Puppy silencer/ , spark arrester is much cheaper than f buying a stock R M silencer and a Sparky SA - approximately $109 cheaper). Despite all the motor changes, carburetion was left alone. O nce on the trail, we ended up wi th a 250cc enduro bi ke that really roosts. Pro-Circuit gave us exactly what we wanted fro m the R MX stronger low-end andsnappier throttle response. Basically, the P ro , Circuit RMX feels like a pure-bred motocrosser with all the trimmings of an enduro bike. Although the power comes on harder now, it still doesn 't hit qui te as explosive as the R M, making it acceptable on the trail. ' . Despite the harder h itting motor and crisper thro ttle respo nse, the Pro-Circuit mods didn't make the RMX any harder to ride; if anything, it made it easier to ride and easier to ride fast. Suspension-wise, we left the R MX's alone, except for putting in a fresh supply of oil in bo th the fork and the shock and ad justing to the external rebound adjusters, according to the terrain and preference of the rider. Bottom Line What Pro-Circuit did was make 'two already good-performing offroad bikes into two outstanding trail burners, machines even the not-soserious woods rider would love to p lay around on. In their respective classes, the Pro-Circuit-modi fied RMX and KDX are easi ly the best off-road bikes we've ever had the . p leasure of swinging a leg over. Both bikes are National-quality material. Just ask Cunningham who has two National Enduro overall wins on his KDX200 this year and Randy Hawkins who has two wins under his belt on his RMX250. And if it's good en o u g h for them... · • Price List: Hollister Hills -a Great Motolross ~ Weekendl ~ ~ Saturday, June J7th & V' .
