Shue, Crozier conquer Echeconnee MX By Gary Crider MACON, GA, MAR. 19 Mini (error Mall Shue, now Honda-mounted, emerged [rom close battles with Suzuki rider Johnny Dean to claim the wins in both the Senior and Super Mini divisions at Echeconnee MX while Mark Crozier posted runaway wins in all [our molOS of 125 and 250cc A racing. Echeconnee's attendance record was broken as 286 entrants frOin a six-stale area lurned oul (or the evenL Freewheeling HondaiPJ l/Fogg Truclcingbacked Shue holeshot both Senior Mini molOS and held Dean a' bay both times 10 finish I-lover Dean's pair of seconds. Dean nailed the holdshot in the opening Super Mini moto, and Shue Stayed closed for the distance bu' had to settle for second spot behind Dean. MOlO two saw Florida's Tony Haynes explode 'he fron' [or the win over Shue and Dean. Shue netted the overall as his 22 score beat Dean's 1-3. Haynes'· 4-1 earned third over Ryan Reynolds. Wagoner Cycle Works-backed David Dishman took ti,e Junior Mini honors after first mOlo winner SCOlt Pinson crashed while leading molO twO and DNF. Shae Bentley neued second and returned to win the 65cc division over Corey Crane and Pinson. The 125cc C division was overflowing with 53 entries. Two heats and a Last Chance Qualifier were run to determine the line-up for the final. Tony llullard won the final to claim 'op gold over Gear/Maier/FMF-backed Brandon Smith. Action Honda's Aaron Day was third over Russell Radford. The 250cc C class saw two molOS of fierce. close racing. Kevin Thompson and Jamey Brannon came away with a moLo win each and Thompson's 1-3 was the winning score over Brannon's 4-1. Radford finished second in molO one but he DNF the second. Contender Kenny Kowalczyk DNF after he suffered a broken collarbone in a £i.rsl mala crash. Dwight Galloway posted 5-2 to claim third over Chris Shaler. Nonh Carolina residenl Gary Brown topped the hotly contested l25cc B division as his 2-2 edged Aaron Yates' 1-3 in a tied score. Buzz Dyer won the second maLO bUl his sixlh place finish in mala one held him to third overall.
