Benyak blasts Skeeter MX By Larry Hughes HOUSTON, TX, JAN. 8 Joe Benyak scored impressive wins in the 125 and 250cc In termed iat e class es at Skeeter Motocross Park, working through the pack in each one of the motos on the supercrossstyle tra ck. In the first l25cc In termediate class rnoto, Jay Rivera hol eshot down the long, grassy starting line wit h Joe Pandek, Chris Delbello . and Benyak close behind. Pandek mo ved into first and put a small margi n between hi m and the tight pack of Rivera . Benyak and Delbello. Benyak moved in on Pandek, challenged him for the lead then washed ou t in a hairpin tum and got back up a distant fourth. Delbello had slowl y gained on Pandek and slipped by for the lead. Delbello and Pandek put on a heck of a show whil e Benyak moved up from his earlier cras h. Benyak ca ugh t the leaders on the last lap and made a move past Pandek for second. on ly to be passed right back. Delbell o stayed on the gas for the win, with Pandek and Benyak close behind in second and third, and Rivera hack in fourth. The second moto sta rted out with Rivera again pulling the hol eshot, Benyak rut inside for second, while Pandek and Delbell o crashed in a tum. Delbello remounted. but Pandek was ou t with a bruised leg. Benyak chased Rivera . Io r abo ut a lap and a half before motoring by and cru ising all the way to the · checkers with a good-size lead . Ri vera held on to second ahead of Delbello. . Larry Lion holeshot the firs t 250cc Int ermediat e race. Benyak wa s hOI on Linn after the first lap, wh ile Russel Mitsch. Bob Stolper and Jason Miller diced for th ird through fifth . Linn and Benyak stole the shot, with Ben yak looking lik e he would take the lead several times on ly to have Li nn close the doo r. The battl e continued to the finish with Linn finishing right in front of Benyak for the win . Mitsch was a ways back in th ird and Sto lper was founh . Mitsch nailed the holeshot in the second moto followed by Linn a nd Benya k. Mitsch held the lead for a few lap s, bu t first Linn made his way around Mitsch, then Benyak. Benyak then made up the distance on Li n n and made his move on a big jump. Benyak pulled out a small lead an d kep t it all the way to the finish.
