c That a lot was happen ing all at once , asking us to check it out . N ew' President Bush and M iam i's Super Bowl, both big items for th is past big weeken d. Friday mom I was coming off San Marcos Pass, riding down from San Francisco aboard a H arley dresser, radio on , listening up to the Inauguration . T hen came George's in augural address - while cruising old Pacific's shore! - this New Breeze theme of his. All about a kinder and gentler promise, a something and something else. And then Sunday there was that to rrid du o of Joe Montana and Jerry R ice, adding big John Tay lor with his big Big Catch - the stadium cloc k canceling precious seconds, tick ing . to a win without an Ickey Shuffle. And at Halft im e's glitzed BeBop Bamboozled, Elv is Prest o rode a Dazzling Dav idson in to TV's 3D first. Th e Inaugural Parade! Moto rcycles at' the Super Bow l! Wow! It was such a whirl! Life seemed so dramatic, so public. It made me hanker for the simple and privat e again , to be away from it all on that dream y fl ight motorcycles give. And I found it on m y own sweet Beem er T w in . R iding alongsid e a new friend on h is new Sojtail - dist inctly diff eren t profiles, yet a fi rst class' pairing, too. Togeth er our motors harm on ized and phased like a couple of rare biplanes. It was the perfect way, th e Greatest Escape. We rode am ong fragrant hills and along th e seaspray coast, this California w inter of ours verging on summer again. And it made me th ink abou t what Mr. Bush had said th ere in Washington , there on dem ocracy's homey front porch . That we aren 't the su m of ou r possessions (regardless of how many moto rcycles we own!). That they aren 't the measure of our lives. That in our hearts we know w hat mailers - to give our chi ldren a sense of w hat it means to be a loy al friend, a loving parent . And a citizen who leaves his home, his neighborhood and town better than he found it. T he new breeze blow s, said our Presiden t. Y eah, it reall y does! Like th e w ind on a motorcycl e that charges the sou l with - w ith Unity, Diversity, Gen erosit y. Bus h's words, those; yet, m y feelings too. T hat kinder and gen tler good of sharing and riding toget her. All right no w, George. Let's go for goal.
