Two inches of snow covered the Stoney clubgrounds and a freezing rain fell . making the exi sting snow cover crusty and initially tracti on was in abundance. Walker stretched his lead enough 10 stop and clean his seat with snow at the head checkpoint. but only the approaching Breedlove could ~ him remounted and back into the lead which he held for the remainder of the one-half hour race. Deteriorating conditions soon changed the race:in to a survival game for most competitors, as the crusty snow gave way to a layer of mud over frozen ground. eliminating' any remaining traction. Breedlo ve and Chris Hartlege sti ll had enough drive to give chase 10 Walker. with Hartlege eventually overcoming the fatiguing Breedlove for second at the finish. After the race Walker said, " It was a lot of fun. Afler I go t around Breedlove during the first lap I pushed pretty hard 10 stay ahead. I stopped after I got a lead built to clean my seal and change goggles, but Tom Buckles kept yelling at me 10 ~t going." Results 0 / A; 1. Brian W alker lHon). M INI: 1. Mike Sampson (Hon); 2.
