looked to be headed for a third place finish . However , .Vandespompele crashed a nd called it a night. T his . gave Wineland th ird making the fin al finishin g order Schmit, Pryor, Wineland and Bonham. In th e final event, Schmit had no problems wha tsoever taking th e win. Schmit led from sta rt to finish unch allenged. Pryor, once .again , fini shed seco n d with Wineland taking thi rd aft er a sixth p lace sta rt. Immediately fol lowing - the race, Schmit load ed up hi s van and head ed to California for th e Golden State Nationals the nex t da y. "I had fun here," said Schmit. "T here was no pressure o n me and there was no co mpetition . It was lik e I wa s out th ere all by myself." pryor, wh o finish ed second, said, "I need to train more. I got pretty tired out there." Ward was th e .early leader in the firs t moto but soon dropped to fourth with Holland, Stanton and Bayle sneaki ng by. Na ughton brought up the end of th e lead group. By the fourth lap : Ward charged past Bayle with Holland and Stanton pulling away. H owever , Bayle overtook Ward again th en started reeling in Stanton. At the halfway point, Sta nton slipped around Holland for the lead , th en Bayle sn uck into second. A lapped ride r in Stanton 's way shortly after was all that Bayle needed to take th e lead . Bayle went on to win followed by Stanton and Holland, who was nursing a sore sho ulder from a recent operatio n . Ward, once again, charged into the lead in ro und two on ly to be passed by Sta n to n a nd Ba yle. H olland, meanwhil e, was running fifth before pi ckin g 0 [£ Na ughton then Ward . Naugh ton saw a h ot line around Wa rd but b obbl ed shortly a fter giving his position back to Ward . Up front and on the last lap, Bayle saw his op portuni ty and dove in sid e of 'Sta nton for the lead an d win. H oll and took th ir d over Ward and Naughton. In the fin al race, H onda ri der Ward cap tured hi s third holeshot of the night, inches ahead of Na ughton . But H oll and stuffed h is way past Naughton by the second-turn then lea ped over Ward for the lead. Bu t Ward quickl y retaliated taking th e number o ne spot back. Stanton then mo ved into th ird a nd even tually found his way into th e lead by lap seven. Wh il e positions were sh uffling up front, Bayle sa t back a nd wa tched, the n took cha rge. H e uncorked h is H onda and slipped into second a nd starte d chasing Stanton. . On the fin al lap with Bayle pressuring, Stanton grabbed too much front brake and crashed. Bayle th en inherited the lead and win. Second pl ace went to Stanton follo wed by Ward, Naugtiton and H olland. . "T he tra ck was easy and th e race wa s easy," sa id Ba yl e. "At ·th e beginning I held ba ck looking to see how o ther p ilo ts ri de, then I tried to attack." , Sta nton said, " It was a good experience for me.
