Johnny Ca m p bell was th e next inheri t first and he held the lead for two laps before Cra ig Adams made h is way by. In th e first m otu it was a rapid-starting Ken Zahn who grabbed the immed iat e lead a nd held 0[[ the moto-lo ng cha llenges o f Hart. Han finished seco nd lO th e Z-Tech Racing a nd O 'N eal USA sponsored Zahrt. In the second mo io a co nt roversial sta rt clouded th e o u tco me bu t o nce Zahrt got in to seco nd p lace he seemed to slo w down his attack. In fact th ird -p lace Ro n Allen nearl y repassed him on ' two occas ions prior to th e checkers. Fourth in o vera ll points sco red ,'..a s Suzuki-moun ted Mark Porter. Dave Ko pel s was impressive in winni n g the I25cc Junior class with double rno to victories. H is fortune was created by th e m isfort u ne in moto o ne o f Dan Reger and Tyler wh o had initia lly been scored as first a nd second. respectfull y. The undoing of Reger a nd H u mm el came after each pass ed a lapped rid er o n the yellow flag as a pro ne rider lay in the midd le of the tra ck . Their cla im that th e wh itt: a nd th e yello w were both wa vin g a nd th ey cou ld o nly see th e white was d isca rded in view o f th e danger and th e repeated warnings at Baylands to never pass o n a yellow.
