OCT. 9 ' , Ryan Carlisle was back in town for Sunday's California Racin g Club MX and left th e 250<:c Interm edi at es wishing he was still back o n the road. Carlis le has been searching for go ld at ot her tra cks with som e su ccess and now it was LACR's turn. Carlisle took th e lead in rn ot o o ne at th e drop of the ga te and never looked back as he led all 'he way for an easy win. Adam Pontiou s foll owed Carlis le into turn one but fell back just a bit with each lap until jack Lawren ce ca ug h t and passed him in lap five of 'he 10 lap race. La wre nce held off repeated challen ges by Pontio u s and fini sh ed second behi nd Ca rlis le. La wre nce was secon d go ing into the firs t tum in moto one with Carl isle and Pon tious close behind. Mark Vanderwalle ou,dragged jason Simmons into turn one of the 125cc Beginner race. Greg Martinez was in a close third. Rich Thomas got a dismal start, gellin~ off the lin e in the middle of 25 riders. By lap five, Manina 'ook 'he lead and Thomas had worked hi s way up to seco nd, then slid o ut in lap six a nd dropped founh. Marinez 'ook the win ahead of Simmons and Vandewalle. Mo'o ,w o became 'he stage for 'he best racin g of the da y. . Thomas and Martinez were sid e by side into . tum o ne with Martinez getting th e edge.. '0 30 T homas went ou t. for o ne in 'seco nd. For the n ext three laps, Thomas was ri g ht o n Martinez's fend er looking for an openi ng. M oto two started out mu ch the sam e as the first but Woo,en held Voh land within striking range. Then, with three laps remaining, Vohland tasted turf as he washed out in a tight right-hander before the whoops. Wooten went by as Vohland remounted and th e two Kawasaki-aces picked up the pace. Vohland dosed in but Woo'en held him at bay for 'he win and the overa ll. In Intermediate Class action it was agai n a pair of Kawasaki's th at banled for the win.
