Lamson scores Fernley MX win By Kathi Davis FE RNLEY, NV, J ULY 17 Steve Lamson extended his wi n ning strea k at the Fernley MX ra ces by winning a ll four mot os in the 125 and 250cc Expert classes today. Lamson's wi n in m e 125cc Expert class was clearly domina ting, as he. took the lead in me first moto after two laps a nd p ulled away to a comfortable lead. The seco nd m ot o was a ll his as h e grabbed m e holeshot and never looked back winning with a large lead. While Lamson's 125cc winning streak was never serious ly th re atened, today ' h is 250cc dominance a lmost came to an end. In the first 250cc moto Dave McCombs borrowed a friend's 250 Suzuki and grabbed the holeshot with Lamson running in seco nd. The two of them set out on a pace that pulled them away from me pack. Bu t Lamson overshot a turn letting McCombs pull a big lead. Lamson was on the gas trying to catch McCombs, but McCombs' lead was very secure. It looked li ke the race was all McCombs as it drew to a close, but fate stepped in a nd McCombs' bik e refuse d to shift on th e las t la p. H e ended u p wavi n g Lamson and Brian El der by as h e lim p ed to the finish. The seco nd 250cc moto saw Lamson grab another of h is patented h ol esh o ts and pulled away for his clean sweep of the day . The first O pe n Expert race was a Mark Mason , Mi tch Gallagher a nd T im Dryer duel. Mason had the lead at the start followed by Gallagher and Dryer. The three of them ran tire to tire early in me race, bu t as time went by, Mason pulled out a lead. But G allagher was the one who got ca ugh t sleeping at the fin ish. As he slowed in the last co rner thinking Dryer was far behi nd, Dryer dove underneath and wo n th e sprint to the finish. The second moto was a Gallagh er show as he led after me early la ps a nd did not let a nyone get close near the end of the moto this ti m e.
