Marshall Patrick ri p ped the ho lesh ot in th e 250cc final a n d didn 't expect th e slow-starting Graybo y Kaw asaki o f Scott Huff to make up th e ground in eight short laps. But by th e en d of lap three th ere wa s sideby-side racing for the lead. They swap~d spots several times in th e remaining laps but with two laps to go Huff had taken the lead for good and cruised home in front of Patrick, Shawn Wade, David Allen and Danny Carter. The order of th e to p fiv e quickl y changed as Williams worked his wa y into second a head of Lander s o n lap one an d Adams dropped to fourth with J im Ste n tz close behind. Garber and Open A class rider Pat Flynn sha red m e holeshot off the deadengine start for the A class wa ve, but by the first comer Garber had edged out Flynn. Garber then continued to increase his distance on me pack for the overall win. The event wa s the first ra ce of DIS's Superbiker competition that combines dirt track, hare scrambles, hillclimbing and motocross events, and also th e fourth of five races making up the Northern Indiana H are Scrambles Series. Stevens had done so five times, but had no first overa ll , until today. And he did it co nvinci ng ly. In m oto o ne , h e go t t~ .holeshot, ahead of Eric Ri cke. The twosome went fender to fender the whole way , but Ri cke co u ld not· p ass and finished seco n d. Bob Sembo rski finished a few seco nds back in third, Stevens p ulled o ff another wire-towire victory in ro u nd two, wh ile Semborski held seco nd the entire di stance to ea rn seco nd overall. Kirk Adcock accom plish ed the same resu lts as Steven s by adv a nci n g from the 250cc Amateurs to the Pro class. Da n Damhoff led Mike H ainey into tum one of th e first rnoto, men H ain e y qui ckly took th e lead. Adc ock was on th e gas after a soso start, and took th e lead in lap two. Ricke reached second on the third lap an d th e top two places were set for the remainder of the moto. Adcock won, well ahead of Ricke, who left Mike Mitchell , Corey Brink and Jeff Moore far behind. Ricke led Bjorn . Jorgensen and Adcock out of the gate in moto two. Things remained that-way until lap four, when Jorgensen and Adcock passed Ricke. Adcock went down
