'J oe Good (1 0) beat Andy Workman (8) and Ralph Blanchard (57) in the Kincaid Park 2 50cc Expert race . In the second rnot o Dauth was never in trouble to the checkers. Rabe was able to grab a second place in the moto and earn second overall. Arena was able to muster a second and a third during the evening but it was only good enough for third overall in the three-rider field . Jim Williams had a stell ar evening against great opposition in the 125cc Junior ranks. In the first moto it was Chris Pedrini that got the ho leshot but soon succumbed to Williams. Paul Eszlinger came up into contention but could do no better than third in either moto. Edge 38 ANC HORAGE, AK, MAY 29-30 Suz u ki-Arc tic Cat Motorspor tssponsored J oe Good dominated both days of racing a t ro und one of the Alaska State Mo tocross Champion shi p Series held at Kincaid Park. The five-ro und series will see ' racers compete twice in Anchorage, twice in Fairbanks an d once on neutral ground in Will ow. The number on e rider fro m Fairbanks, Andy Wo rkman, o n Northern Power Sports' Suzukis, was Good's onl y challe nger. Both Workman and Good competed in the 125 and 250cc Expert classes. Sunday's first 125cc Expert mo to saw Good explod e with the holeshot and what looked to be an unbeatable lead by the halfway mark, but a dust-clogged air filt er slow ed him to a 12th place fini sh, Workman won th e moto. The second moto bel onged to Good. Workman led for a few corne rs but fell and remounted in 15th pl ace. Good never relinquished h is lead and took the win, but his 12-1 netted him only seventh overall. Workman worked his way up to second by th e end of the moto to tak e th e overall win. Good jetted to both moto wins in the 250cc Expert class over.Workman and Kawasaki of Anchorage's Ral ph Blanchard. Monday's action was not a repeat of Su nday. This time Good didn't just win , but tro un ced both the 125 and 250cc Exper t classes. Good holeshot and won all fou r motos over Workman, who finished second in all four motos. Northwest G lass-sponsored Bru ce Stingley too k his AT K to all four mo to wins in the Vet class and even showed th e youngsters a thi ng by finishing second overall in the 500cc Expert class on both days. Canter cooks at las Vegas MX By Dick Goodw in LAS VEGAS, NV, MAY 21 Cornell Canter let his opponents coo k in their own juices while he sizzled to th e overall in th e 250cc Novice class at Las Vegas MX. Max Brokaw blasted to the front to begin ra ce acti on but Canter quickly fou nd th e way past. Brokaw stayed close, and by lap three, he re too k th e lead. Bri an DeMill e surged ahead of Canter into th e seco nd spo t. Brokaw stormed on home with the win as Canter fought his way back into second. Hunt, Canter and Brokaw went right back at it to start race two. They battled back and forth for several la ps unti l Brokaw got sideways over the doubles on lap four and went down hard. H unt and Canter co ntinued their fight to the finish line wit h H unt j ust ni ppi ng Canter for the victory. Cornell Canter 's consistent raci ng earned him the overall crown in th is class. Bobby Hun t finished second followed,by Max Brok aw and Brian DeMille. Mini cycle actio n was as close and intense as the big bi kes. Rapidly improving Eddie H oll and took the 12-16 divisi on, edging o ut Mik e Gilbert and Utah's Santone DeCoI. Gi lbert grabbed the first mo to holeshot, as H olland tucked his Suzuki in beh ind him . Eddie made a quick pass on Gilbert for th e lead but a half-lap later, a small bob ble allowed Gilbert to repass. Gilbert was cruising out front until a slide-out at the back bl eacher section suddenly dropped him to fifth. Holland took advan tage to race home with th e win. Gilbert grabbed the hol eshot aga in to start race two. Holl and was right there but got out of shape, allowing DeCol to pass him. Gilbert wou ld not be denied this tim e and led for th e rem ainder of the race. Ho lland battled his way back into th e seco nd spo t by th e end of the race. H andicap heat races failed to show any specific hands, bu t the semis dealt up some stra nge pairi ngs. Mike , Solis co ntin ue d to improve hi s lead ing abi li ties by winn ing his hea t and th e first semi while Bast and I n ge ls pa ired fo r the fina l two tra nsfer spots. Steve Martin diced for the lead on h is Mar lboro Construe-,tio n special with . the Arai Hel met special of Sisemore. Solis grabbed the lead fro m Shawn Rep pert whi le th e deep yardage guys grap pled for pos itio n at. the start of th e main. Bast a nd Sisemo re were close for two laps while In gels and Martin took the h igh side. Ingels was hoo ked up for the outside to inside moves and hooked his way to the front down the back straight whi le Martin got stuck and went to last. Sol is held on for second with Sisemore and Bast all over his rea r end. In th e Scratch program Ingels nipped J eff Knis s in the first heat wh ile Sisemore and Martin continued th eir winni ng ways and Bast beat Kid Curry. J oh n H ouston Jr. , was the stylis h win ner in the final heat over Dave Faria.
