Randy Hawkins rode conservatively and took third overall. He'll join Kurt Hough on the IS DE U.S . Junior World team in France this fall . Aaron Hough, Kurt's younger brother, kept Terry Cunningham honest in the 125cc class. Hough took fourth overall, second 125cc. Drew Smith rode a Honda XR250 and claimed the Lightweight Four-Stroke class w in over Dwight Rudder. These are the special test scores of the top 10 overall riders. There were three tests each day (shaded areas) . Lead ing the Open class was Nielsen followed by Daniel, while Rudder held a on e-second lead over Smith in the L/W Four-Stroke class. And Haaker led Rhodes by 32 points in the H /W Four-Stroke class. A slightl y faster trail pa ce was the main happening on day two, but the rider s were sti ll averaging abo u t eigh t minutes to th e checks. " T oday was a lot better than yesterday - I had fun ," said Fredette. " I didn 't make any mistakes in the speci a l tests. I did sto p o n th e trail pace a nd had a snowba ll fight, th ough. I hit him (Cu nningham ) w it~ ,a snowba ll , so we were having fun. H awkins had a little trouble in one of th e specia l tests. " I pitched it away off a bank and wasted som e tim e," said H awkins. " I had some problems today," said Kurt Hough. " I almost went off the side of a cliff. I was sight-seeing, I just carne up to a turn and laid it down and slid 0[[ th e edge about five feet down." Aaron Hough suffered a flat tire on the day bu t changed it at a gas check without losing any time. "A ll in all I'm having a good day ," said Cunningham, who was running third in the overall point standings. " I'm just kind of riding around." Smith, who overtook Ru dder [or the L/W Fo ur-Stroke class lead on day two said, " I just do n 't have the motivation I had last year; I do n 't think I'm goi ng to th e Six -Days this year.
