Speedway By Todd Kroh G REEN E, NY, MAY 21 Joh n Kehoe stormed the field to have his best night ever at the eighth-mile oval of Action Park East Speedway as he won the Handicap main event. Warren Diem won his second consecutive division one Scratch main even t. Kehoe topped his heat race and placed second in the semi to vault him into the main event. Kehoe took a wire-to-wire victory as he pushed his Trader Jack's/Castrol/Shoei/IM Leathers/ AB Racing Godden to the head of the pack on the first lap of the main event and never looked back. Off the 30 yard line Kehoe passed 20-yarder Mike Buman on lap one and before Buman went down in turn four of lap two , almost causing a wild fracas. Buman dropped his machine next to Len McBride and right in front of an oncom ing train of riders battling for position. Mark Edwards, in fourth at the time, took the low road while George Lazor and Diem squeezed between the downed Buman and the wal l, both escaped unscatched, Diem moved into third ahead of Lazor and Edwards. While all this was happening Kehoe built a huge lead over McBride and the rest of the field and was never headed. .In Scratch racing Diem piloted his Bl en d zal lz Keech Video/ Diem's Cycle Godden to the Don Hawkins' checkered ahead of Tom Burge, John Lewis and Len Dillion . Dillio n had been having a super evening and appeared ready to take Diem to task but a tight first turn gave Diem , Burge and Lewis th e ad vantage. Burge bega n to mount a ch arge on Diem during laps two and three, chasing him into the corners trying to close the gal?' However, Diem would extend his margin on each , straight to'offset Burge's effort. Don Madison was the only rider left standing after one lap of the Divi sion T wo main even t. The restart proved fait hful as Madison snatched the ~te and won convincinly for his first win of the season, eclipsing Kelvin Herrala. Marco Morello gave a consistent showing in Division Three co mp<;tition and finished ahead of Rick Deland and AJ Fabian. Resu lts 0 ·1 : 1. Waren Diem (Gdn); 2. Although P ryo r d i d lose the second mo ta of the 250cc Stock race when he fell on lap six of the ninelap moto, Mulligan p icked up the moto win. Roger Jones' challenging track and cool evening temperatures greeted a ligh t turnout for this first NMA Qualifier to be he ld in the area. The Junior cycles got things rolling as Drai Nichols smoked the first 60cc moto. Nichols led the first lap as Justin Crachy moved into the second spot in the four-lap rnato.
