Jay Baumert (Han); 3. Jeff Steimack (Han). Price powerful at ~Trail- Way ST By len Breech rl HANOVER, PA, MAY 21 Georgie Price almost pulled off a double win at Trail-Way Speedway's short track. H e took a fairl y easy win in th e 250cc class and battled Tom Maj esk i for almost eigh t laps of th e 600cc Expert class before sliding o u t on th e third turn of th e fin al lap . Price pu t hi s C & S Kawasakisponsored Kawasaki in front of th e rest of the 250cc Experts and pulled away to a 20-yard lead over Mike Klopp. Mike Varnes and Da ve Du ahine battled in th e ea rly laps over third, a nd Duhaine took co n tro l of th e po sition after three laps. . Scott Mohan go t hi s usu al quick start in th e 600cc Expert final , but Maje ski had the lead by the third turn with Price, Dave Lesni ck a nd Paul Crumling behind th em . After ba t, tling with Mohan, Price took over second on th e th ird lap, and he a nd Maj esk i s ta rted to pull a littl e ' di st an ce o n th eir R otax based mach in es, both o u t of D & S Cycles. By th e halfway mark Tom Cerciell o had worked hi s way u p from the penalty lin e into th e fourth sp ot a nd aft er pressuring Mohan for a few la ps took th ird o n th e fin al lap. As th ey entered th e th ird tu rn on th e final la p , Price slid o ut, unhurt, giving Maj es k i an easy w in . Cer ciell o fin ish ed second th en came back a little la ter to easi ly wi n th e 750cc Ex pert class over j oe Gately and Claren ce Bul l. As the o n ly 200cc entered, Kevin Varnes ra n with th e 250cc class a nd I did a good job, running a strong fourth th rough o ut th e race behind Chuck Wrecsics, Rich Skiles a nd Edd ie Hidden. Ski les rook first briefly a t the end of th e second lap , but drifted wid e going into o ne, lettin g Wrecsics regain th e lead for good. Results 55 : 1. John Winsen (Yam); 2. CA, MAY 14 Bobby McDow ell ca me from th e back-of-the-pack a nd passed brother Bryan McDowell la te in th e race to tak e th e P ro-Am main at Hills Ferry Speedway. . In the hea t race Bobby was first o ff t h e lin e o n hi s Bob Codd s po nso re d Honda wh il e Br yan grabbed th e second spot o n his Rotax. Steve Mayfield had a mi sh ap a nd went down, but all eyes were on the McDow ell s as Bryan rode ha rd to ca tch Bobby, bu t Bobby was just too slick for him. ' In the second heat j aime Agui la r g ra bbed th e hol eshot o n hi s H arl ey whil e St eve Ra ym ond slid in to second. joel Green, on th e move as tri de a Rotax , began pi cking off riders one- by-o ne and took over the first spot by th e chec kered flag. In the third hea t Mark Key began moving through the pack heading for th e first spo t on h is Harley. Wh en he began to mak e hi s mov e aro und H onda rider R obert Bacosa, h e ta ngled with Kevin Br ick er a n d a no ther ri der. All three riders were driven into th e wa ll and a ll three walked away. In th e main j on Nunez shot hi s Ca n- Am into firs t w h i le Bryan McDowell stayed close o n his heels in second. Bobby McDowell , farther back in th e pack off th e line, had to ri de hard to get th rough the field. By th e time Bobby go t close to the front, Bryan wa s a lrea dy aro u nd N unez a nd len gthening the di stance Detween th em . Bobby managed to ge t by Nunez o n the o utside going down th e back stretch then went after brother Bryan. H e ca ugh t Bryan com ing out of turn four to tak e over the lead and th e two brothers stayed well ahead of the pack. The McDowell brothers w~re followed by joel Green in third, Mark Cors etti in fourth on a Rotax and Steve Raymond in fifth . In th e 500cc Open Expert class Bobby McDowell grabbed th e holeshot and held onto fir st all th e way with Steve Ma yfield co m ing i n second, Bricker third, Nunez fou rth a nd Green fifth .
