Kris Kiser took charge of the Junior final at th e outset, but Speedy . Kell soon blasted into th e lead. Short Track T h ursday ni ght's short tra ck was sho rtened wh en torrential rains fell after th e last heat. The rest of the program was ca nce lled and each of th e six, six-rider heats were treated as a main. Fa y dominated th e first heat and won by a large margin over Marty Zirbel and Orr, wh o barely nipped Russell for third. l The second heat featured a charge by Joel H uskey fro m fifth to second, bu t it wa s Kirk Strong taking the win. . Ryan Fis her .bliu ed to a five bike length lead in the thi rd heat over Kit Farley a nd Dean Autrey. Ro yal Anderson pulled out the stops to collect the win in th e fourth heat over Tim Stults a nd Aaron Waggoner II , while Tresser ba ttled Sportsman :TT Asel tine gree n- lighted perfectl y a t th e sta rt of th e ma in with Adderson, O rr, Fay , Wilson . La te in th e race Fa y fina lly nabbed Orr for second, but Aseltine was u ntouchable a nd took the win. Rod Reyno lds exploded in to th e lead a t th e sta rt of th e 250cc Expert main with Dan Stan ley, Ricky Hen so n, Kirk Strong a nd Sea n H art following. H annah again led th e pac k to start mo to two , but th is time it was Mark Olberding hol d in g down seco nd a hea d of Hi cks, War d a nd T a ylor. Ward moved by H icks and assumed second as Olberd in g faded. Thomson was o n th e move and passed H icks and Ward 10 pursu e Hannah, but he was unable th e close the gap on th e Suzuki teamster. Hannah took a co mfortable victory over Thomson, H icks, Taylor and Ward. Suzuki-mounted Chaun McAlister holeshot th e fir st 125cc Expert rnoto followed by T odd Smith, Brian Thomson, Lowell Thomson and Ward. Ward charged up a nd challenged McAlister for the lead, and after a fierce battle he took it. Ward then pu t tim e on McAlister and a three-way duel for third developed between Sm ith, Lowell T homson and Jackson, who had blitzed from dead last.
