MURPHY, 10, APR. 17 White Bros .lMaier/Maxima/ AXO/ Smith/Honda ' of Caldwell-backed Curt Dice blazed his CR500 Honda through th e heavy dust to collect the overall win, over KX250 pilot Reed Bright, at the Desert Raiders ' 13th Annual Bagdad Classic. Pe ugh , Di ce, Wehr and Bright freigh t-trained th e first loop to the first pit, This became th e race's turning point, as Peugh and Wehr both hopped onto th e Mini course that paralleled, only 20 feet away, the big bike course, travelling three miles until real izing ' their mistake. Dice and Reed took over first and second overall from there on out. Weidl er Dynamics /Smith /HiPoint/Honda of Caldwell-supported Wehr and Peugh finally got back on course, now around 10th. But Wehr hit some rocks, denting his CR250's clutch case in so far that his clutch wouldn 't work, necessitating ontrail repairs. Twenty minutes down, Wehr got going again in 26th, and sla m med hi s way through the dust and whoops to finish 12th overall. By the second gas , Peugh was eight seconds behind Reed. Reed thought it was Wehr, and was successful in holding Peugh off. Peugh spe nt the rest of th e race in th ird, unable to make th e pass. "The dust was so bad, I couldn't get past Reed," said Peugh. Peugh thanked Sm ith Goggles, Honda of Caldwell and Vernon Peugh for their help. Team Green/Smi th /EP Performs /Bell /Circl e Ind.!
