Mark Goe tz clai med third after mo ving up fro m a bad start. The second mo to belon ged to Byler and Dahl with the two riders running first and second the entire six laps. Byler took the win and the overall with Dahl finish ing second for th e da y. J ason Ragan took third wit h T yrone T accon e in fourth with th ird overall. In the Open Ama teur class Byler aga in showed his liking to the trac k as he took bo th mo to s and th e overa ll. Dean Roberts backed up hi s first moto th ird w ith a seco n d overa ll. T he first Senior A mo to saw Mik e R ob inson and Bart Lucas jump in g out front with Cliff Mill er and Tony .DiStefano close behind. Robinson took a convincing win with L ucas second and DiStefano o n his rear wh eel in th e th ird . Robinson and Lucas repea ted 'th eir first mot o start runn ing 'first and second with DiStefan o in third. DiStefan o moved by Robinson at th e halfway point to take the lead and th e win. Robin son finished secon d for the overa ll win wit h Miller movi ng up to thi rd. Don Sch mid t contin ued h is winn in g ways by takin g both Mi ni Amateur motos and the overa ll. J ones SACRAMENTO,CA,MAY4 J immy Sisemore overca me problems in an early race to win h is first Scra tch ma in on his Truman Bailey/ Ara i/ Oilzall /Sm ith G oggl es/ A&A Racing-sponsored Weslake at th e Cal Expo Speedway. Bart Bast powered his way from th e 40-yard H andicap lin e to ta ke th e checkered in th e sixlap Handicap main. Sisemo re, using his po le positio n and a qu ick start, took a slight edge into turn o ne in front of Bast and Eddie In gels at th e beginning of th e Scra tch ma in. Bast, o ut of ga te.three, made a spectacula r mo ve to take th e insi de a way fr om In gel s, a n d watched his stri ng of Scratch wins disappear as he slow ly lost grou nd on th e ou tside. After a lap Sisemore ga ined so me breathing room as Bast and In gels were locked into a du el for the second spot. As Sisemore drew away, Bast kep t In gels 10 the o utside for ano ther la p u nt il In gels was forced to back off when losin g traction in the marbl es. Whe n the checkered came ou t on the fourth la p Sisemore took the win, Bast second, In gels th ird and Mi ke P arsons fourth. . Bast, fro m the 40yard lin e, had the other five ride rs in his sigh ts as th e ga te went up. By turn o ne Bast had caught the 30 yard starters , J ohn Ho usto n and Robert Curry. On the back straigh t Bast whipped pas t lookin g . for Dua ne Yarrow and Shawn Reppert . A lap later Bast was in control and o n his way for hi s first win of the seaso n . Martin, Delgado take Oak Hill RR By George Peckham OAK HILL, TX, MAY I Texan Michael Martin won Formula Two, D Superbike and D Production and received $500 for his efforts at the WERAICentral Road Racing Club's event at Oak Hill Rac eway. After racing i n th e two-hour Yam aha YSR50 Endurance race held o n Saturday , Mar tin came out Sunda y on his Yamaha FZR400 to lead the first three laps of th e Formula Two race until Je sse Daniels passed him . Daniels led th e next three laps on hi s H onda with Martin ho t on his heels. Meanwhile, Mike Cook, in third was tryi ng to figure out how to get past the leading duo. Martin ' slip ped back aro und Daniels to lead on lap seven and held on till the fin ish. Coo k made a good pass to take second on hi s Yam aha j ust ahead of Daniels. . In D P roduction , Eric Fait on th e Sun Cycle Kaw asak i EX500 led th e first la p o nly to be passed by Martin. Try as he may, Fait cou ld no t make any of hi s moves 'ar o und th e FZR stick. . In th e Yam aha co ntingency pa yin g D Superbike race, Dou g Carmichael on a Yam aha T ZR250 and Mike Cook, a lso o n a Yam aha, too k off wi th Martin leading th e pack around the pa rt ia lly resu rfaced Oak H ill trac k. T he CRRC has ' been working to maintain the Oak Hill track th at was originally built wi th go-karts in m ind. Martin took the lead and Cook go t ahead of Carmichael to take second again. Ai this time Rick Delgado was havi n g h is best race; he had practi ced o n Satu rda y and helped lead a group of riders' school stude nts around the ' track to show them the lin es. P ractice makes for very quick raci ng. Even with a poor sta rt, Delgados' kirted Yama ha FZR750 started mo ving through th e field at an am azing rate. H e was ge tti ng h is money's worth out of his Michelin radials. By the thi rd la p he boldl y passed both H ar der and .Gl eason. On the nex t lap Harder repassed Delgado wit h G leaso n right beh ind th em . Dav id Cl yde on hi s Connecti cut Cycle Works H onda 600 Hurrican e joined th e fra y and passed G leason by braking later going into turn five. At th e same tim e Pl entl 's KR 133 Dunlop slic ks had greased up and he slo we d sl ig h t ly . T he h ardcharging Delgado took- the lead on lap five, a nd o n lap six Harder and Gleason carried th eir ba ttl e past the now-fadin g Pl entl, Clyde fell back on lap six and Larry Schwanbach · went around him. Delgado, a fourth year rider, gets help from Yamaha of Killeen and Dynajet: Charles Devitalis does his tuning. While Delgado took th e checkered flag, Harder missed a gear and he and Gleason drag-raced to the finish. Harder barel y got second while Gleason was th ird. Plentl held on to fourth and said he had ridden too much practice on his tires and that was causing him to slide around. Delgado w on $500 in Yamaha contingencies. Results A PROD EX: 1.
